MINI for Minivan

I have to go over to the darkside, but I'm determined to do it on my own terms.

We just had third (and final) baby, and the fam will officially not fit in the MINI anymore.

What will replace this wonderful car?

A 1989 Dodge Caravan Turbo like the ones seen here:

http://www.turbominivan.com

2.5 Liter 4-cyl turbo that will run 1/4 miles in the 12's with minimal mods.

I paid $400 for the van, and just finished painting it with a roller. It actually looks quite amazing...with the texture of a white refrigerator. I love it.

some pics here, maybe: http://enduro.martinagency.com/car

I thought about Indi Blue with a white top and mirrors, but wanted to maintain the sleeper qualities.

So anyway, not sure how long it will take to sell my car, but wanted to thank everyone for making this MINI community fun to be a part of.

And if you see a guy in a white caravan giving you the thumbs up, it might be me.

See you around. JR

I read about this drag racing minivan a few years ago and thought it was great!

Hope you have fun surprising the heck out of people on the streets!

Glad you could join us here for a while!

That's classic...did you use the smooth roller or the nappy textured one?

Hurry back to the MINI fold!

By the way - congrats on your growing family...

Let's just say it has orange peel like nobody's business.

It hides imperfections by covering the van in them!

The van will pull the racecar too.

will you be submitting an application?

Congratulations on the new arrival!

Not for MINI, but we are in the BMW pitch! That's common knowledge now, so I can say that without getting fired.

I spent my youth in the turbo/shelby dodge car club and show circuit... great little sleeper cars. I was making over 250 hp out of my little glh (stands for goes like hell [seriously]) it was close to hyper blue but with no white top like a mini... part of me is actually getting the mini to relive the good old days with my omni... even if it sounds ridiculous. And I know gus (the guy that had the 12 second minivan). he did it for really cheap too. good luck with the family and if you decide you need to make some serious power check out http://www.forwardmotioninc.com/.

god I can't wait to have a small, good handling car with a lot of power that actually doesn't break every time I beat on it hard

Good luck with your MINI. You'll love it. I hate to let mine go. I've enjoyed the trouble-free aspect of it like you mention. Before that it was a Scirocco with a swap. Plenty fast, but reliable? Not so much.

Gus (R.I.P.) was a legend from what I gather. I'll definitely be looking to make some power in the Caravan (referred to as a "mini" in the community). As soon as I sell my MCS and pay it off, I'm pulling the engine and having it rebuilt...forged pistons to boot.

I'm hoping to have a couple of years of fun with the minivan before I go back to a responsible adult car. Wow. That's an odd statement.

Enjoy your MINI!
