Crap...now I've scored my front left rim

Wasn't paying attention starting from a curb parking spot. Rubbed the curb and scored the outside of the rim about 12" around before I realized what was happening. Was only going about 5mph. But it looks like crap. Tire went flat about a week later. Noticed the flat tire light on. Filled up the tire a couple of days ago and tire still OK. Has anyone had something like this buffed or grinded out? The mark is about 3/8" wide x 12" long. It's driving me crazy because I see it everytime I get into the car. My one year old MINI is starting to show some wear and tear.

Doh! I just did the same thing yesterday. Late for an appointment and whipped into a parking space and rubbed the left front along a curb. I did a search here and found this write-up:
http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/w...uff-repair.htm
The paint is from autopia:
http://store.yahoo.com/autopia/tires---wheels.html
- for German cars. I'm next going to send autopia an e-mail to ask if this paint matches Mini wheels.
Good luck

Check in your local yellow pages under "wheel straightening, or wheel refinishing." There are services that will come to you, grind/sand the damaged wheel smooth, then repaint/clearcoat it. You will never notice it, probably around $75-100.

Just got an e-mail back from the autopia folks. They think the silver paint they sell should be a good match. They've sold to 6 Mini customers with no negative feedback or returns. So......I ordered some - and I'll let you know if it is a good match. Might take a while as they can only ground ship aerosol paints. Good luck

I think that they are actually 17'' wheels. The wheel I have from the sports package are the 17'' 8 spoke s lites. All my wheels are pretty effed up.

Oh yeah... add me to this list...

I made my tire have a complete make-out session with the curb.

Talk about feeling like an idiot.

I am planning to attempt repairing mine as well. Was quoted $140 per rim for repair. I figure if it doesn't work, I will look for someone selling rims on ebay or on here. I have seen them selling for much cheaper than $140.

I ordered my paint from these guys...they were cheaper than anyone else on the Wurth's silver and clear coat. They ship fast too.
