Ok, I'm not sure if this has been discussed before or not but I haven't seen it here yet. I'd try the search function but for some reason, it doesn't work with my browser - if I try to look up MINI or Cooper I don't even get any hits!

Anyway, I was parked yesterday with the engine idling waiting for my wife to come out. So there I was palying with my door locks when the coolest thing happened. I held the door lock/unlock toggle in the up/door unlock position and voila - the windows and sunroof opened just like the comfort opening with the remote! That's just so cool - 3 /12 months with my MINI and 7700 miles and I've discovered yet another new feature! So for all those out there who never tried this and you have the comfort opening programmed - check it out! Just hold the door unlock in the up position and......voila!

Have I mentioned how much I love this car?????

Apparently someone didn't watch their MINI CD that came in the mail with the coffe mug. In this CD they show that this can be done....which is all nice, if you have a MINI capable of doing this. My dealer can program my Aug 2002 build MCS to have convenience open from my remote, but this feature still doesn't work. Oh well, I'll live.

DavBret may be on to something: My July 2002 build Cooper doesn't have this capability and my dealer says they can't program it. I do have the windows/sunroof opening by remote programmed instead of the boot unlock. When this was programmed, I was told I could use the press-and-hold remote button to open the windows/sunroof or unlock the boot -- but not both.

I also don't have variable speed intermittent wipers and think I should. I'm asking my dealer to look at this again on my next trip there.

I can open and close my windows/sunroof from the door lock and open with the remote. My car is a 7/2002 build.

Thanks X2. Any Cooper owners who were able to have sunroof/window opening programmed from both the remote and the lock toggle?

Remember, I can only speak for my 7/02 Cooper. I can open the sunroof/windows with a constant push of the remote but cannot with the lock toggle. I can close the sunroof/windows with the key in the keyhole and holding it in "lock". I cannot close the sunroof/windows with the remote.

What I can and can't do is a combo of what the car can do and what my dealer knows how to program. With a new machine, things like this are an iterative process. I accept that and am not in a big hurry. As long as I can motor...

No, read it again, I can "open with the remote". "Open and close from the door lock", if we could get rid of all the lawyers, I'm sure MINI would allow remote closing and one touch up windows to be programmed.

Sorry to tag onto your posting Davbret but you just reminded me that I haven't been able to find a mug to fit the holder. The following is the ramblings of a caffeine deficient west coaster.....

AARRRGGHHH!!!!!! MINI Canada why do you torture us poor Canucks this way? Who needs a coffee cup more than a frozen Canadian, eh?

OK, so assuming that MINI Canada doesn't read all of the postings I have also sent them an Email at MINI.ca. I'll start a new posting if there is a reply.

MAD,
I think the only way to know that would be to poll every new owner. Hope that you get the CD and cup but I've learned that not everybody gets all of the freebies. Some of these things are from MINI USA, some are from programs that your dealer may or may not have signed up for. Also, it depends on the model year and delivery date on your car.

ASK! Your dealer, MINI USA or other MINI owners if there are things that you want. Who knows....

1 - I didn't get ANYTHING else with my mug.
2 - The other COOL thing was that my MINI was never "officially" programmed for me. I picked it up 1 1/2 hrs after it arrived at the dealer and they barely had time to prep it. They didn't program it and I never told them how I wanted it programmed. Yet it is "somehow" programmed exactly to my liking!!!

Greatgro -- I've read here on MCO that if you take your MINI into the dealer they can put your car's VIN into their computer and tell you everything that they can program for you. It may be worth the time to stop by and see what else the car can be programmed to do for you!

or maybe not ...

you may just ENJOY MOTORING the way the baby came!!!

Here's another odd thing about that famous coffee mug freebie: I got a note with my orange & metal mug that I was getting it to accomodate the cramped front cup holders. However, the mug I got was the 6 incher which is too tall for the front cup holders! I know some owners were shipped the 4.75 incher, which fits.

Hmmm. They're just toying with us!
