Anthracite Liner Worth it?

i am ordering a MC this week, chili with black roof, 16 wheels, cloth seats, CWP, front and back fogs, cruise, and was wondering if the black headliner and black dash/door trim was better looking and less prone to showing wear than the standard silver colored trim.

any comments are appreciated

I went through the same thing when ordering mine back in April. I figured it was worth it and ordered it. For the $200, I find it worth it!!

The anthracite trim appears to be one of...if not the...most sturdy of the interior trim colors. This won't come into play much on the dash, headliner, or door surrounds, but on the door pulls and the downtubes which (at least in silver) aren't clear coated.

I think you will find that those who have ordered it have found it worth the money.

I have the option and get many compliments on the Anthracite headliner, people do notice it. I have an all black interior so it compliments everything very nicely.

My '05 MC has anthracite interior and beige headliner. The anthracite dash etc. is a really nice color. I'm a little concerned that the the headliner will get dirty, or especially the sun visors will get fingerprints.

Yes, yes and again yes! I almost missed out on ordering this (from the "build your MINI site" it looked like it was just the roof handles that were anthracite, I didn't realize it's the entire interior roof cloth that is a nice dark gray). I would have been very upset if I hadn't received this. To me, it just simply completes the interior and is very unique.

I now notice when I get into other people's vehicles that the roofliner is almost always a light beige color, even if the dash of the vehicle or the interior trim is dark. To me it's odd - I don't know what the reasoning behind this is. Maybe this is so vehicle manufacturers only have to produce one interior liner for the car? Beige goes with everthing? I don't know, but I can only say that the anthracite interior headliner rocks, and you won't regret getting it!

I would definitely order it again. It looks great, and I don't worry about smudges or road particulates making it look dirty. I plan on having this car for many years, and the anthracite really seems like it will look much better in 5-10 years. To me, that's worth $200.

If you go with the anthracite interior, definitely go with the headliner. It completes the package and completely coordinated. It doesn't show smudges like the light colored ones I've seen.

could someone please post a picture of a non-anthracite headliner? I found the following picture from user Blakc's mini in this thread https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=49939

I think it is worth it and I am glad I got it. You can't see dog hair on it or even your own hair.

My only problem w/ the anthracite trim is that it makes the interor so darn dark. That's fine if that's the look you're going for or prefer. As much as I baby my silver trim, I must admit I do prefer the contrast and would not hesistate to order silver all over again.

Ultimately it's a matter of taste. My 2003 Cooper had the silver dash and the light-colored headliner. My 2005 has anthracite all around, and I really like the effect in comparison - especially since the darker interior shows off my red and black cocomats very nicely.

We did not go with the anthracite headliner. Wanted a little contrast from the dash and doors. I have the same color combo that you are looking at.

By the way how do you smuges on the headliner?

i got mine when it was a free option (one of the first production cars of the 2005 model year) and love it. it is a personal thing, but i think the look is better than the grey and would be worth the money to add it as an option. not sure why they started charging for it, anyone know?

Nice, that would sure be a good reason for dark interiors.

I have the anthracite trim with the anthracite headliner along with chrome line interior and I love it. My 03 had the alloy patina trim and everyone agrees that the interior in my 05 is much nicer. It's all a matter of preference, but I feel the darker interior (especially with the chrome) gives it a classier feel.

Very true, but I've seen a lot of anthracite lately. It is pretty durable so that's definitely a plus.

I ordered my 06 with anthracite all around. My only concern is that my 03 had the light colored headliner with a sunroof. I didn't go with the sunroof this time and with the anthracite headliner, it makes me wonder how much more dark the interior will be. I'm happy with my decision. Now, all we need is an option for anthracite on the steering wheel and steering column stalks. I did go with cloth interior so the lighter gray should go with those I just mentioned.
