Same here... I like some contrast.. highlights the dash by not having everything so dark...
It's all a matter of personal taste... there is no right or wrong...

Yeah, that's the one distinct flaw in the all-anthracite treatment - several key pieces like the speaker surrounds and tach are still silver, which is lame. I think if we spring $200 for the headliner, it should include those pieces.

Of course, there are always resourceful folks here on NAM who post great instructions on how to remove and paint such pieces.

I just ordered a CR/B with anthracite dash, and I wasnt even aware of the option of the anthracite head liner! I mean, I saw it on the web site, but i did not know how AWESOME it was until I saw this thread!!! PANIC PANIC! I panicked this morning and called my MCS sales person (Dan Kuhn and Knauz Mini in Lake Bluff, Il) and was able to add the option (I'm a week 38 production)! I'm psyched!!!!

Thanks for pointing the option out to me!@

Ryan, you'll definitely dig it! I think it will work particularly well with CR/B.

both of the pictures on this page are without the sunroof. I don't know what the black almond shaped this is where the sunroof controls would go, probably just a blank plate.

We, too, went back and forth on the anthracite/not anthracite issue, finally decided on the anthracite - then after all that agonizing, we ordered a convertible instead.

But I'd highly recommend the anthracite, especially with your color combo. I think it looks a lot 'richer' than the light gray. Just my opinon. . .

...if you go with the beige headliner, you can always stick something to the visors for contrast.

More time cleaning the garage = less time motoring.

Everyone needs balance in their lives.

I like the anthracite headliner personally, and regret not getting it. My '08 MCS will have all the things I wish my 05 MC had... Xenon, Anthracite Headliner, Nav, Heated seats.

Yeah, optionitis is hard to avoid... the only part I regret is not waiting until '06, to save money with factory JCW... but at the time I ordered the car, that wasn't a known fact. Ah well, too late now.

I guess I had a better MA than you. I did not have it spec'd out because I missed it in the builder. he pointed it out to me and I am really greatful. I would have been really disappointed.

I got the chrome interior which helps with the silver but it remains on the steering wheel, speaker grills, and the stalks. I thought that these would be a big problem for me but I was surpised when I took delivery that it did not bother me at all. It all came together rather nicely.

just to add my comment to the list.. I've had both(and both were with the sunroof), and I much prefer the darker headliner.

Now that is some forward thinking
Even though I just got an 05, I'm already thinking about what to get in a few years.

I've owned one MCS with the anthracite headliner and one without. imo, the anthracite headliner is a classy complement to a black interior with anthracite trim. And, maybe because of the sunroof, it isn't gloomy or claustrophobic in the least.

I would have been very upset if I hadn't received this. To me, it just simply completes the interior and is very unique.

I now notice when I get into other people's vehicles that the roofliner is almost always a light beige color, even if the dash of the vehicle or the interior trim is dark. To me it's odd - I don't know what the reasoning behind this is. Maybe this is so vehicle manufacturers only have to produce one interior liner for the car? Beige goes with everthing? I don't know, but I can only say that the anthracite interior headliner rocks, and you won't regret getting it!
Yup. Same situation, but I didn't get it, and I am mad that I didn't. My SA didn't tell me about it, and on the Miniusa site, all they show is an interior above door handle in black and it says $200. If you clicked on it, and was able to see exactly that it was the entire interior roof and support beams, I would have paid the $200 without thinking about it.

The description on the Miniusa site is very poor, and the anthricite headliner looks awesome. I went back to the dealer a week after delivery and asked about getting it, and they said it was 'too hard' to get. So every Mini I now see that is 'salvage', I ask if they have the headliner so I can buy it off of them. Hopefully I get it one day.
