Emergency Roadtrip to Central Florida Facts.

Ok, we made this emergency run to central Florida from northern Ohio over yesterday and today. We traveled 1,043 miles , used 33.6 gallons of high test , averaged $3.29 per gallon. Our best was 33.7mpg (the run through Virginia/North Carolina/into South Carolina and our worst was 26.6 (through the hills of West Virginia) pretty much with air on booking along at around 80mph, except through Virginia. By the way my MCS is a Plain Jane (PJ), no cruise. No back problems, no sleeping legs problems. No issues. Well there was that chunk of concrete thrown up by a concrete truck in Canton that bashed the lower right corner of the windshield, but did not break it! Every gas station had high test, one station had no regular in South Carolina, other than that it was no problem finding gas.
Virtually no traffic, lots of police and only a few folks doing 90 or better by my estimates.

We usually run into wall to wall traffice from Jacksonville all the way down to 4 at Daytona Beach. But there was virtually no traffic. It was very unusual.

I always use the 17 to 19 route out of Jax to get to the Leesburg area. 19 through the Ocala NF is almost always empty.

Be careful you don't break down on 19 in the NF, especially at night.....seriously, it's not a good area.

On a lighter note, back in the 70's not only was there a gas shortage, but in Florida there was a TP shortage. If we have another one, would anyone be so kind as to send us some?
