R50/53 Problem with my interior
Hi a have an electric blue MCS with the lapis blue leather. Hm i have a problem with the silver color on my doors. It's straching down, with fingers or rings on fingers. Does anyone had the same problem?

Welcome to MCO! Are you still in Slovenia?
I'd like to drive a MINI in Slovenia, but I imagine you're not there.
Have fun on this board. MCO is a good place to practice your English. I'm Canadian, so I speak and write "the King's English".
The Yanks don't!

Can't help with the scratching on the doors, but don't apologize for your English which is worlds better than any of our Slovakian, ( or is that Slovenian?). Welcome to the site and a bigger welcome to the good old USA. If that's where you are now. Ron.

Fisher,
This is a problem that others have reported. Some have sprayed their interior paint with laquer in multiple thin coats to correct the problem. To me, this is something BMW should have done. There is no excuse for painting plastic and then not protecting it. I'd much prefer BMW integrate the color into the plastic.
Also, be careful if you wear sunscreen. I've also heard that people have had the paint dissolve where they rested their leg against the door.
See ya,
JS

We had the same problem on our MC (Aug 2002 build). The paint would come off at the slightest touch. Having both door pulls and the center console supports changed under warranty. The dealer agreed the paint should not be that soft.
>>Nice job, sirron, your 500th post!

My next door neighbor of 35 years is Sir Don. You probably know about my palindromes.

Hello Fisher! Here are several suggestions...
1) Go to a different dealer. I can't tell your location, so I don't know if this is possible, but if it is at all (even if it might involve some travel) do it. Your dealer sounds like a jerk....something not at all uncommon with MINI dealers.
2) Contact MINIUSA. Report your problem with the paint to them and they may be able to help. Call them by phone as this seems to get the best results. Also, look here for recommendations from some MCO members who have had more success dealing with particular people at MINIUSA. (anyone have a suggestion??)
3) The radio thing is just your dealer being a pain. Sure, there's no reason why THEY would do the radio change...and of course the aftermarket radio (assuming you don't buy it from your dealer) won't be under warranty...but there's no way that your replacing the radio should have any impact on your total VEHICLE warranty. MCO is full of people changing audio components...and if this voided everyone's warranty, then you wouldn't see all of these people doing it.
Good luck, and let us know how things move forward.

Here in my country is only one dealer. I come from slovenia, that is a little country near italy. I will send an email to central mini page, then i will see what will happen.
Thanks

Hey Fisher...!
I don't know if international dealerships work the same way but.... when in doubt, give 'em 4's on the dealer rating!
I, too, have a scratching problem. Should have gotten the darker door panelling. Thankfully nothing has dissolved or flaked or chipped off yet.
Hope you get the problem fixed--and soon!

Hey Fisher!
Your English is better than mine. And I am originally from Brooklyn, a little boro near Manhattan.
Are your doors the "magnesiium" color type? My dealer just said they are very hard to keep clean, but never mentioned the scratching part. Maybe it was a bad batch of doors.
I ordered the panther black with silver dash, and now wondering if the dash scratches more easily than the anthracite trim.
Good luck, and by all means let us know what happens.

I solved this problem by using the pads for seat belts...sort of a seat belt shoulder pad. I have a black and silver interior and found the pads in a black and siver pattern that looks like it was made for the car...I had to use two sets for each door..the pads velcro closed so you are able to put two together and make one unit...it then fits over the cross bars and protects it as well as adding cushioning.

I have had the door pulls and the center support posts changed, and the new ones are showing no signs of scratching or peeling. I think they may have had a bad batch. Could you take it to a dealer in another country?

>>And what is that?
It's a natural product which ensures you will have large fluffy stools (not the kind you sit on in bars). Very good for problems with your interior.
 Ask Holly RN. Sorry Fisher, it's a wry English joke. Ron. Or maybe a dry English joke.
