I get a real kick out of all this talk about BMW quality...........
My company has put millions of miles on our fleet of Ford and GM work trucks and SUVs. In the last 18 years, I have personally put a quarter of a mil. miles on my series of leased work trucks and have had little to no problems with these vehicles, often racking up 40K miles a year - hard miles.
Compare that to the three BMWs I have bought my wife and the one Mini I currently own.
BMW #1 - M Roadster - Successfully lemoned after 7 months of ownership.
BMW #2 - 325iX - Sold after one year of ownership. Was in the shop once a month - at least.
BMW #3 - X5 3.0 - Sold after two years of ownership because my wife did not trust it to get her from point A to point B anymore. Interior trim parts literally had to be replaced every two months. Stranded her twice, etc, etc.
Mini MCS - 6000 miles in 2 years of ownership. Has been in the shop a total of 10 times. I adore the car, but see the same crappy BMW quality in it.
Compare that to the Acura (no visits in 1.5 years of ownership), Dodge Durango (same) and her current Japanese ride.
Again, I adore my MCS, I look forward to tracking it, running the canyons with it, it is one of my passions - but quality wise, it doesn't touch the Japanese or American cars I have owned.
Recently, I sold off a spare set of wheel and tires for the Mini. Two of the five people I talked to were having long terms issues with the MCSs and were hoping to have the dealers lemon their cars.

kinda late for me to respond to this discussion, but some used cars are purchased from elsewhere (even out of state) and are shipped to the
dealer.
A used car sitting at a particular dealership does not necessarily mean
that someone actually traded-in their car at that dealer.
dealer.

Well, when I left, it'd be the sweet music of a roaring LS2.

I'm sure you know I was just sharing a bit of humor I came across.
