Visor stickers on 05 MCS

Has anyone successfully removed their visor airbag stickers from an 05 MCS? Did you use denatured alcohol or something else?

Denatured alcohol worked back in the day... that is, three years ago for my new '02 MSC.

I used nail polish remover on my '02. It's the acetone in the polish remover that did it. You need to soak a paper towel, and hold it over a part of the label, and it will rub off. Took a LONG time, and haven't done it to the '05 yet.

That's what I used on my 02 along with a couple others and it worked great. Another thing is called Goo Gone and you can get it at Wal-Mart.

I don't think the stickers are any different on an 05 than they were on an 02, but I could be wrong.

Ths stickers look the same, but the visor material is definitely different. Not as smooth as the '02s, and more sandpapery. It makes me nervous about messing with the stickers, but I've got the antracite headliner, so I guess I can only make it look so bad...

I took it off my '05, and it wasn't bad at all. didn't ruin the sandpaper effect. Only drawback is at certain angles there is an outline 'reflection' of where the sticker was. I can live with it and very pleased with the result.

If its more sandpapery it seems it would come off easier than if it was smooth.

I have the same on my 02, but it's not sticky or collects dirt, it's just an outline of where it was and I can live with that better than that damn sticker.

Thanks, Sarah - that's the reassurance I needed to go ahead and do this. Even if there's a shadow outline of some sort, it can certainly never look as bad as those stickers!

did it last night. used denatured alcohol and a paper towel to saturate
the sticker, then rubbed it off.

followed up w/ acetone to get rid of the residue.

(denatured alcohol seemed to work better for the mass removal process.
acetone turned the big sticker in lots of very small pieces which semiground into the visor.)

I used my wifes acetone free nail polish remover( cause it was handy) as my acetone was at the shop. It worked great- no removal, no residue,. no problems, and free! Wife even supplied cotton *****

I think what we need is a new sticker to go over the old one. I was a warning about whiptastic handling once.

I just removed all the stickers in my 2006 Cabrio (including the sticker warning folks to keep clear of the moving top) with my wife's acetone and cotton *****. The dash sticker and the conv. top headliner sticker came off cleanly with no residue - the two visor stickers were the "rubberized spray on" type and took a while with an acetone rub to eventually roll off. On the second sticker, I noticed it worked much better when the cotton ball was loaded with acetone to the point of almost dripping - this way once the sticker had been soaked a while it came off in seconds.

The visor stickers left small shiny spots where they used to be. I tried to remove any residue with Goo Gone to no avail. Hoping that time takes away the shine - but even the shine is SOOOO much better than the "nuclear waste hazard yellow" that was there before.....
