Talk about culture shock, going from one extreme to the other. Probably have enough parking space for 2 MINIs now! Well, congratulations. What does your new baby look like? And what became of the old car?

The production date is scheduled for 2/21. The dealer said it would probably be delivered in April. Its a IB/W MCS with all 3 packages, upgraded stereo, leather, alloy wheels (was iffy on the white), hmmm, the 17" run flats-all season (not sure what to expect from the run flats).

The Imperial is already gone. A 70ish something gentleman from Georgia caught a flight to Denver, picked up the Imperial (black leather interior) in August. Drove it west across the mountains, south, through Texas and back to Georgia. Unbelievable. It was a HUUUUGGGEEE vehicle. Outlawed in Colorado demolition derbys (so they say).

Its all fun!!!

Too bad it's gone. I would have said to keep the potential pimp-mobile, and do it up a la Austin Powers Goldmember style. That thing was pimpin'
Cheers,

Excited is good.

I don't know of anyone at MCO who wasn't excited about their MINI.

Well done on the trade and welcome to the MINI Kingdom.

Welcome! There have actually been several threads about what cars current MINI owners have replaced (or added to) with their new MINIs. Here's one, but I know that there have been more recent threads as well. It does seem that about half of the new MINI folks have simply ADDED the MINI to their fleet, vs. replacing another car with the MINI. So, you would have been perfectly acceptable in keeping the Imperial as well. Would have been a nice Mutt and Jeff kind of thing.

What actually spurred you to release the real classic to buy a maybe-to-be classic? (gas mileage would be an obvious answer )

Besides making room for the MCS, we sold the Imperial to also help fund a 1990 Harley (Heritage Softail).

The only other "fun" car we've owned was a VW Karmann Ghia (1970 I think).

I hope all goes well with the MCS production. Wouldn't it suck if it arrived "not exactly as ordered". I wonder if this has happened. The dealer in Colorado (Schomp) had a PW MC on the lot that somebody supposedly ordered and "really hated the color" when it arrived. The salesperson (Aaron) said that they let her re-order another MC.

Hi everyone,
I recently took delivery of a MCS/DS-Black that is replacing a 2000 Carrera 2 Cabriolet. Not that I am getting rid of the Porsche ... I just allways reach for the Mini keys  Half of my friends think I am crazy for getting the Mini, the other half think that I am crazy for getting the Carrera. I'm gonna have to let one of them go, so that I can keep half of my friends !
I am leaning towards installing the Rouge intake / Magnaflow exaust / ECU upgrade and keeping the Mini. I love the way that it drives.

I finally parted with my 1964 Morris Cooper "S" I have driven a Mini in some shape or form for 30+ years. I ahve too many cars and the pack rats here in the desert like old British wire harnesses! Oh, well! I sold it to a friend who runs a British car shop and I have visiting rights.

When mine ever arrives, it will replace a piece of .... corrolla. When this day comes, I will be a totally different person. Nice, likable. Now, mean and inhospitable.

A MINI Cooper, which replaced a MINI Cooper, which replaced a heavily modified Peugeot 306.
It had 3 alarms, no locks inside or out, no out side door handles, a tracking device, motion detectors, a 12" kicker sub, 2 alpine amps, Infinity front components, alpine head unit, 18" aloys, H&R lowering springs, pipercross dual exhaust and a kit to blow your eyes out of the sockets. It was low and loud, but I don't miss it one bit
