2006 Colors update

From motoringfile.com, here's the latest and greatest. (http://motoringfile.com/2005/07/15/2...r_availability)

Going away (as we knew): Jet Black, Electric Blue, and Solid Gold

New colors: we know all about em by now, but here is their availability by model:
Solar Red will be MC and MCC only, as Cool Blue is now.
Space Blue and Royal Grey will be MC and MCS, but no converibles.

Also:
LY will be MC only now (hardtop and convertible).
Pepper White will now be available on MC and MCS convertibles.

And finally:
The new silver bonnet stripes, silver roof, and silver mirrors will also be optional for pretty much every color and model.

That's the news. I'm still surprised JB and EB are going, but am happy to see PW available for cabrios as I think it will look great.

i still can't believe there will be no black MCS, jet or astro or whatever. i also can't believe they are getting rid of yellow for the MCS. so that makes the option for an MCS hardtop two dark blues, red, two dark greys and a silver, a purple hardly anyone is buying, green, white and silver. am i missing anything, here?

i may be ruffling some feathers here on nam when i say this, but it's how i feel darnit... the color choices are boooooring. there are no interesting colors available on the MCS hardtop. there. i said it. now let me have it.

No EB or LY on the MCS is a lousy decision. They should have made both these bright, happy colors available on all models.

I thought black was one of my least favorite colors until just a few days ago when I finally saw a very clean, waxed, black MCS here in town..........it looked great.

For me it came down to either Black or Pure Silver when I bought my Cooper S, and I only opted for PS because my MCoupe is black and I didn't want two cars in black.
Seems a bit odd that Mini would stop offering it, but I guess if it was the most popular color it would still be around.

Solar Red

Glad solar red's only available on MC because otherwise I might have done something stupid like trade or sell my 3 month old 5kmi 05 mcs blk/blk!
Seriously, all I've seen is the Motoring File pic, but it looks like the kind of red I love.

Anyone know if its the same identical red available on some BMWs?

I can't believe this. Our next MINI was going to be a LY MCS. No idea what to do now...

I am thrilled that PW will be available on the MCS cabrio. Fantastic. Now my decision will be down to black interior and top or blue interior and top.

GREAT NEWS.

Hmm...I like the white/blue look for a bright white car, but I think black would work better with PW - or maybe tan if you want a really classy look.

After thinking about it, maybe black top and interior would look really great on the PW cabrio.......

Decisions, decisions.

Luv my Atro Black MC; hard to imagine you can't get AB on an MCS. Now, no Jet Black? Pretty soon the MINI's will take the cue from some of the American cars and be all shades of gray-greenish gray, reddish gray, bluish gray, grayish gray-you get the idea. I've always felt that color helps define the personality of the person who owns the car. Nobody likes the same color; that's why there should be a good selection. There is (or was) a really interesting puke green color I've seen on BMW Z-4's. Looks like something lifted from a Pontiac Aztec. How did the MINI color selector people miss that? I'm sure someone somewhere gets paid a lotta money to pick out what colors will be offered every year. Why can't they do a better job?? I'm sure those reading this could do a better job.

Because a MINI convertible must have it's top down close to 100% of the time I'd think a light color for the interior would be best. Sitting on a black interior that's been in the sun for a few hours won't be fun.

Agreed. The PW/B I pictured above has Tan interior and it's great!

Black is back

According to Motoringfile, "MINIUSA will indeed be offering Astro Black on the Cooper S and indeed across the entire range for the 2006 model year"

http://motoringfile.com/2005/07/25/b...n_the_2006_mcs

That should ease the fears of many motorers, I think.

Metallic "Black" just to clarify. Still, the solid $0 Jet Black is gone for '06 production.

Nice trick.... MINI figures that if you want black in your MINI, your only choice is a $450 metallic finish....

Perhaps its the influence of overcast and fog...maybe the British have a notion that if there isn't ever any sun, why bother having a bright color?
