Ugh. Perfect example of a possibly compelling story ruined by pathetic spelling and 4th grade level writing. The guy sounds like an idiot. I couldn't even stand to read to the end of his mega-paragraph.

Good point chibo. I find that life is too short to spend all of it seeking faults in others. Granted, his writing was very dificult to read. I dont see a point to bashing him because of it. Im sure none of us would want somebody scrutinizing some fault of ours. Were all here to talk about Minis, so lets have fun doing that!

OK, bear with me here for a moment. I'm envisioning this guy up in Toronto, seriously hacked off, fed up, outraged, banging on an old metal-cased KayPro with two fingers (one finger if he's a mainframer) pouring out his frustration and pain and poor writing skills. Little beads of sweat popping out and running in tiny rivulets down the throbbing and distended vein in his forehead, occasionally dropping into his mug of cold coffee; sometimes making craters in the spilled cigarette ashes surrounding the overflowing ashtray.

This guy went to a lot of trouble to type all that out, to get the timeline right, to get the names and places right. Especially with his less-than-top-drawer writing skills, that's a lot of effort on his part.

That guy is one SERIOUSLY unhappy customer. I'd take his experience to heart.

I think if I had spent 31K on up grades and had gotten the runaround he did I would too tell everyone who would listen. Spelling and grammar be damned

So what would happen then is the customer would get grief and the vendor would continue to cause grief because of pathetic spelling

For anyone that is interested there is more to this story than chrisnl has observed if you will just dig a little deeper.

I'm amazed the guy had as much patience as he did - I would have been taking steps after a few weeks of missing the first deadline - but damn that is rediculous! I have never looked into that company, but have certainly seen the name in mags and online. Being in the business I am, I'm directly involved with magazines, advertising, sales, marketing...and I can tell you it is VERY VERY easy for any company to seem 100x bigger than they are. It sounds like not only did they do that, but they couldn't even function as a small-fry shop with that kind of quality and workmanship!

Actually not very likely at all since he's in Toronto. Anyway, lighten up. It's a joke. Perhaps a thoughtless, at the expense of others joke but a joke nevertheless.

I don't understand how, after reading his detailed account and then following the BBB link to the "F" rating, anyone would even think to post about the guy's spelling or paragraph structuring skills. Read the rest of the posts, follow the links and the picture becomes clear - these guys (RMS) are a running joke. They even pulled his advertising from the site.

I spent an additional 10 minutes on the site and found an 8 page thread devoted to RMS' hoot and hijinks. Norm's link was just the tip of the iceberg, I urge anyone who is considering them as a viable Mini tuning option to see what all the fuss is about before becoming a potential victim.

There is indeed a skunk in the woodpile. My hat's off to the guy for tipping us Mini consumers off before one of us falls victim to a similar fate.

Sorry, everyone, for my excessive criticism of this guy, and for derailing this thread and getting moderators involved, etc. I often have a similar reaction to horrendous spelling and writing, but I usually keep it to myself. Obviously the shop he's writing about is a place to avoid, and that's the point. Good info for anyone who lives in that area.

The thread in performance forum has stalled.
Tip of the iceberg is very correct, that fellow was only one of many that fell victim to a smooth talker. Alot of those guys paid more buck's for Mods than we did for our MINI's and got back less than they sent out or nothing at all.
I am wondering how he knew that the MINI market would be next.

I resent that. I started my career (and went the school) programming mainframes. I for one, can type 75 wpm with use of all my fingers....
