It's Saturday January 11, 2003, and here's the MINI Thought Of The Day:

This afternoon I'm going to a Toronto Rock (professional lacrosse) game. (They're the defending champs, today is the home opener, and the team, well, rocks!). Their games are held at the Air Canada Centre (known in these parts as the ACC or The Hangar). It's where the Leafs, Toronto's NHL team plays hockey. (Why is it "Leafs" anyway, and not "Leaves"?)

When I go to the ACC I park in the underground lot of a major downtown bank building. This is Saturday. The lot will be pretty much empty. This particular underground has l o n g ramps, made for zooming a MINI up and down, and a weird "S" shaped roadway in the underground lot.

Look out under-dwellers and weekend parkers: MINI is arriving with speed and gusto to your underground lair. I can't wait to hit those ramps. I'm going straight to the 4th floor underground - it'll be empty for sure.

Twistys? Yep you bet! "S-roadway" watch out! I'm hittin' the up-ramps with high revs in 2nd gear. Toronto Rock just got a new meaning!

 

...just be careful out there...

You never know when someone will get an eye poked out.

The lot was empty. The gate access is by credit card, so there didn't seem to be security.

Did you see the Steve McQueen movie Bullit? Remember the flying-over-the-streets-of-San Francisco bumps and ramps? Well it felt like that - only I didn't leave the ground.

And I had a friend scope the lot while I was driving. MINI-safety first. Always.

But - it was a hoot! The car loves to rev............
