Okay, who still has a debadged MINI?

A few of us still remember the MCO/MINI debacle where a number of people removed various badges from their cars (I took off the Cooper S part), has anyone wound up putting them back on?

I actually added one...a chromed John Cooper sig opposite my normal Cooper badge. I like it...the chrome bits look good on an IB/W.

I saw a Beetle the other day w/ a de-badged front end. Given the hood lines it looked a little weird, imo.

i'm considering debadging mine when i get rid of my chrome, or just buying a whole new set of all the badges and painting them a semigloss black and putting those on.......

Here is what I did to the back end of my 2005 JCW MCSc: removed the Cooper S badge, and moved the Works logo to above/center of the MINI badge.

I kinda like the way it turned out. If you miss your badge, you can always order another one from the dealer, to re-3M-tape the removed one.

Cheers,

Badge Be Gone

Are they just stuck on there with tape?

Will dental floss work to remove them?

I'm thinking of removing the hood badge to clean up the look a bit.

Use 30lb fishing line and cut the adhesive foam between the badge and body with sawing motion. Becareful to not contact body. Use 3M adhesive/wax remover to completely remove what's left on body...buy from local auto supply store:smile:

Wings only on the boot. Side grille S's black instead of reflective red. I did them in reflective white but it kept peeling. My roof & mirrors are black so I changed the S's to match..

there are holes under the hood badge so be careful with that one...you will need to cover them or fill them somehow

Is it too late to remove the "cooper S" badge on a 2 year old car ?? Will there be a mark, or a shadow "cooper S" ??

I took the badges off my 2002 car a few weeks ago, no shadow.

I took off the Cooper S from the boot a couple weeks ago, and I'm very happy with it. It doesn't look like anything is missing, but those in the know will realize I'm really cool!

My car's Pepper White, so I don't want to go with black side vents from an MC. I may get the chrome version from Moss Mini or someone, though.

So just to confirm:
The back MINI badge (w/wings) can be removed with no holes in the body BUT
The front one DOES have holes if removed- is this correct?

Maybe i'm wrong, but i'm 95% sure that BOTH of the wing emblems have holes behind them. And that the COOPER or COOPER S are the only things that dont have holes
