Piney,

Velvet Red IS available in the US! It is a beautiful color! I saw a Velvet Red/White MINI at the L.A. Auto Show on Wednesday! Very pretty!

Cheers!

Yup, indeed it is available  . There's a VR Cooper that parks near my home and it looks quite sophisticated. It is much rarer than most of the other colors as well. Only problem is it's not available for the S .

VR has been available on the MC only. VR is the least requested color, yet looks absolutely beautiful. MINIhune is a VR/VR, the only one we know of so far in Hawaii. She is truly unique!! She was supposed to leave on the Jupiter Diamond today, so we'll be checking. As soon as she gets here, we'll post pics.

Oh yeah - the Velvet Red is gorgeous  We have a few in our area here - but we don't see them very often...

I LOVE Velvet Red. I came very close to getting VR/W .. it was an excruciating time trying to make the choice of color. But, I'm happy with my Silk Green.

I had the same problem choosing between VR and SG. I chose SG too, only because my husband has a car which is very close in color to VR. I'm happy wiht my decision but I do think VR is beautiful.

DaveInDenver: Great shots! How cool is it getting pictures of your MINI?

The VR has been available in Canada all along.

I have a VR/White/White Wheels MC on order. Intend to get the white bonnet stripes as well. It is definitely still available, although Silk Green went away for '03 I believe.

MINI dealers should all have the standard vertical showroom display showing the various available body colors in round plastic domes, and VR is definitely among them... so I don't know how a dealer could have VR "not listed."

It is the best color.

I think I saw in another thread, that pineapplemonkey (the one who started this thread) was in the market for a Cooper S. Which, of course is unavailable in VR. that would explain the dealer not knowing anyway.

Indi blue seems to be the hottest choice these days. and I LOVE indi blue almost as much as I loved Velvet red. but. because I think its so popular, I would probably prefer BRG. I like to have something thats a little more unique. Thats why I like my Silk Green Cooper

I was just taking pics of someone elses MINI today (RandyBMC) and it was chilly. I opted not to use the aluminum tripod. Brrr.

Oh, and this is my MINI (err, sorry about it being Dark Silver in a thread about Velvent read). More photography of my MINI

Those are the MINI R90 accessory wheels. They are $385 each and are made by BBS for MINI, but each one weighs 25 lbs.

I certainly agree, not the most popular, but definitely the best color IMHO.
MINI of Hawaii also shows a "gold" round plastic dome display. Motoring Advisor said it would be available in March but not sure for which models. Maybe it's replacing the Silk Green

I like how the Velvet Red looks! On the MINIUSA site, I found it's on the Cooper but not the Cooper S. Sort of like the Electric Blue is on the Cooper S and not the Cooper.

I wonder what car the gold will be offered on.

I almost hate to admit it, but not only do I not wonder - I don't even care which. I might change my mind after seeing one in person - but so far, gold is the only color I haven't liked on a MINI (at least from pictures).

I wonder if you can special order Black Velvet seats painted with a picture of Elvis to go with the red velvet?
