MINIs are ffffffaaaassssstttttt!!!!!

I was fortunate enough to be told how fast my Cooper S is today.
I was on a backwoods rural road driving 60 when I saw a county cop on the side of the road so I naturally slowed down. I guess he was waiting on the city cop coming up the road. Thats the one that clocked me going 68 and as soon as i past him I was going 74. When he finally stopped me he informed me that he had to go 120 just to catch up!!! I felt like I was in an episode of The Dukes of Hazard... Its amazing how deceptive the MINI can be when it comes to speed. I dunno how fast I should drive now. I guess 60 is out of the question. I admitted to 60 and I'll stick with it through court.

Lol The Mini's are definatelly hard to determine speed in. Everytime Someone rides with me there allways looking at the speedo and like man it doesn't feel like your going 70"or however fast I'm going". Did the cop give you a ticket???

He was probably a lot more dangerous than you were- maybe he should get the ticket and you should go home clean

Yep, I got a ticket... I was kinda expecting it though. I travel through that town everyday and I knew the county cop. He came to my house last year, right after I got my MINI, and accused me of speeding. After almost an hour at my house I finally told him to write me a ticket. He did but it was dropped the next day by the Sheriff. They all stick together, like cops should, so I was expecting to get stopped soon by anyone of them. I'll take it to court this time. The judge graduated with my Dad so it'll be fun to see what happens in court.

How'bout this Sumtra99

...Your honor, there are only 3 assumptions for what had happened here. Either I lied my way out of a ticket or the "officer" lied about the speed or maybe BMW Engineer lied about setting up the speedo. But I took an oath before you to tell the truth & nothing but the truth, didn't I? And the "officer" he took an oath before to become an "officer", didn't he? The ONLY ones who didn't take an oath were those in big BMW corporation (or maybe they did, I don't know ). So, let us go after them, you, me & the officer. We bring 'em to the "light". Are you guys with me?

Now I need to go to sleep

Sounds like to me that these cops have it out for you. I mean if he personaly came to your door and accused you of speeding, and then another snags you with radar and then says he had to do 120 to catch up. They might be picking on you. I had a certain cop around my way do that with me a couple of times when i had my truck. Seems like they have nothing better to do then pick on people with nice cars!!! But good luck with ur ticket, im sure if ur dad knows the judge pretty well it shouldnt be a problem .

OK here is the key, get a Charlie Daniels CD and keep it in your CD player. When the cop walks up to your car make sure it is playing. If there is one thing I know it is that local cops love southern music and if they think you do to they will let you get away. I was pulled over two consecutives weekend by the same local cop, first time was in a pick up truck with country music playing (NO TICKET), second time was in a brand new Jetta playing alternative music (BIG FAT TICKET!). So now I either have a CD in the player, or a country station on the preset.

How often do the county police calibrate their radar guns, who's to say it was working properly that day? May want to ask the Judge.

Thats too funny! I'm sure it would work here in Arkansas.
As far as calibration... it was a new car cause he wrecked his other 2 weeks ago chasing a girl in an SUV.

What if the cop realized he let you go with a warning when he pulled you over the weekend prior? This time he ticketed you.

I doubt it has to do with the music.

Oh, I don't know...many a cop has been influenced by Johnny Cash singing "I walked the line."

Key points for the judge:
1. Mr. Cop said he had to do 120mph to catch up to me to write a ticket
2. Said cop wrecked a cruiser two weeks ago doing same.
3. Revenue from my ticket and girl's ticket combined < cost of new cruiser

Case dismissed.
