Yeah, that is light. Makes me wonder what mine weighs. I don't have the heated seats! Or the Premium or the Convenience, or the cold pack. Well, I do like to carry around my camera, but it's a Canon Elph.

were you in the car? how much do you weigh?

also, heated seats won't really add much weight. it's just an element pad in the car and 2 little plastic switches. maybe 1lb at the MOST.

what wheels and tires were you using as well? stocks with runflats?

Suuuuuuuuper late answers to these questions (reviewing my old threads)

I was using S-lites with Euphorias (which I just weighed at 45#'s per wheel) I was out of the car when I weighed the car. My reference to heated seats was simply that I have a lot of creature comforts compared to my 90 si

Anyone else put their MCS on a scale?

1. Weigh yourself.
2. Weigh yourself holding the MINI.
3. Subtract weight 1 from weight 2.
4. Profit!!!

I weighed my 05 MCS this morning: 2520lbs with about 3 gallons of gas in it, but not me. Add the 60lbs to fill 'er up and that's 2580lbs fully loaded. No packages but xenon lights and LSD, no hole in the roof, all the seats. Major weight savers were wheels and tires (about 50lbs lost) catback exhaust (another 20lbs?) and BBK (another 20 maybe.) Since I weigh 170 fully loaded (with Red Bull) that's 2750lbs of pure driving pleasure!

cheers,phil

Nice to see more and more folks taking an interest in weight and weight reduction for their MINI's! It can become an addiction, or even an infliction... but a good one, I feel.

Where would one go to weigh their MINI? I see Minirox took advantage of a truck scale at a weigh station but it's been years since I've seen one around here.

A suspension shop that does conrner-balancing could certainly do it for you, and it would most likely be quite accurate.

Mine was weighed at a DOT certified public scale (many options at the intersection of I40 and I25-just find a big interstate in a city.) The weigh master said it was +- 20lbs, which is pretty good really.

Yes, it can be an addiction. I used to have a couple of Neons that I raced (autocross mainly) and I was always obsessing about removing whatever weight I could under the class rules I was racing in. I first bought a shipping scales to weigh parts I removed from the cars, but eventually bought a set of Longacre Corner scales a couple of years ago. Before I sold it, I had my 1996 Neon down to 1980 lbs in race trim. That was almost 500 lbs worth of weight reduction!

Buying my own corner sales was probably going a bit overboard, but I've had quite a few friends and racing buddies come over to weigh their cars. So far my MC is at 2385 lbs in race trim (no driver), but that is completely stock. I can probably take another 15-20 lbs out of the car and remain legal for the class I race it in (H Stock).

Does "race trim" mean no back seat? Which wheels and tires?

Since I autocross in a stock class which allows very few modifications, race trim for me means only 1-2 gallons of gas in the tank, R-compound tires on 15" stock holey wheels, no floor mats, and no spare tire or tools/jack in the back. Otherwise the car has full interior and is as stock as I drove it away from the dealer. By the time you add 11-12 gallons of gas and the spare tire, tools, and floor mats back in, the car approaches 2500 lbs curb weight.

What a coincidence! On a whim I stopped by the dump today. They weigh the trucks hauling stuff in, on DOT scales. I sweet talked the lady into letting me drive this tiny Cooper up there (I'm sure I was getting quite a few snickers from the truck jockeys), and with half a tank, mats, sunroof, 5speed, spare, and all the misc stuff in my glovebox, it was 2530 (without me). Then I left, cause it smells bad over there.
