my clock display blanked out for 4 seconda

Yesterday, the clock display on my '04 MC blanked out for 4 seconds....was working fine before and since....everything else seems perfect...when the display came back on, the time was correct ....I assume that if it was a faulty power wire to the clock or a loose connection, then the time would flash at 12:00 like if you had a power failure...any ideas out there in MINI world?

Man, that's bizarre... I keep a spare tin-foil helmet in my boot, for when that happens. Alien 'mind-control' just had a near miss and zapped the clock instead of your brain (bwahahahahaha!)...

It's weird that it didn't "forget" the time (seems like it would, if there was an "iffy" electrical connection, but then I'm no electrician, I just play one on NAM).

MINI owners figured out other spooky stuff (the jumping needles thing) before, so this one may beget a logical/correct explanation in the end too.

See how good I am at being absolutely no help at all,
Tatt

Cool

Sounds like a data bus temporary freak out session. I'd bet it'll never happen again, but then again I don't know if your car is possessed, lol.

This has also happened to me in my 04 MCS last August. But for a little longer amount of time. But it came right back on after about 3-4 min with the correct time just like you.. It hasn't happened since.

My 04 (April build) Cooper's clock did that exact same thing about 2 weeks ago! I was very worried it was a gonner, but I switched the ignition completely off and then on and the clock came back without losing time. Definately wierd. Could the spirit of Lucas Electrics live on in New MINI's? Time will tell. Cheers!
