Hey all,

Like many of you, I'm "in to" collecting the die cast and RC Minis. A few days ago, one of our members indicated his wife bought him an RC 1:6 scale MINI at a Walmart in Canada. This thing must be H-U-G-E. So far, I can't find a single reference to it on the Internet. Nothing at Walmart, Google, etc. I don't doubt that the member is telling the truth. He indicates it's a Motor Works label, by Maisto I'd imagine.

If any of you turn the thing up, would you send me a link?

Oh yes, can't forget mentioning that I tried to find the TV ad mentioned on Mini.UK about the car/body part analogy, but came up with nothing as well (See TV Ad's Thread). Did find a cute yellow backpack made like a MINI though. My daughter loved it! (No price)

Thanks, Jim

If you don't believe me, that's all right. But I know what I have in my possession.
I'm telling you the truth man. Seriously. I have yet to pick up photos of it, from getting developed. Then if I can ever firgure out how to post a non-webpage picture on this site, I'll post it. If you want to give me your email address, I'll scan and email it to you.
She got it from Wal-Mart in British Columbia-Canada. The phone number there is (250) 860-8811. Just called them and they have 2 left. Not sure what else to tell you. The name of the maufacturer seems to be Motor Works, which is all over the box. Looking at the small print, it says things like trademark license number etc. Also says "2002 SCIENTIFIC TOYS, LTD.,CHAI WAN, HONG KONG. MADE IN CHINA.
At the bottome of all that it states, "IMPORTED BY WAL-MART CANADA CORP. 1940 Argentia Road, Mississauga, Ontario. L5N 1P9

Not sure if Motor Works is the soul manufacturer of this car, or if they had some company like TYCO do the work for them. There is no reference to any other company on the box or in the instructions. That's all the info that there is.

If someone out there knows how to post non-webpage pics, could I email you a couple pics of this R/C Cooper to put up in this thread?? I've had problems before doing this, and I know I won't get it this time around. Thanx. Yeah I know........Damn rookies, eh? What can I say? Computers aren't my thing.
Cheers and happy hunting,

P.S.- Why would I come one here and post a blatant lie about something to purposely steer my other MINI folk wrong. I'm not that shallow. I DO have better things to do.
If you're having troubles locating it, I can understand a slight disbelief. Maybe it was only distributed for Canada?? I dunno.
If you want, you can send me a certified cheque, money order, etc and I'll go out and buy it for you. You'll have to pay for shipping though. And if you really think I'm doing you a good service, you can maybe toss in a few bucks extra. There's only 2 left where it was first spotted at that Wal-Mart. So let me know soon.
My email is planetmars@telus.net
Cheers,

I now have a few pics available of this R/C monster sized Cooper. Although it would appear that non-web based pics cannot be shown? This is probably more confusing to me than it actually is. So if someone wants to send me their email addy, I'll send it to them and they can post the pics up, or host the pics on their site so as to add the site address to locate the pics, as I don't have one.
Cheers all,

I think you misread Cooperman's post - he said "I don't doubt that the member is telling the truth". In other words, "I don't mean to imply that he's lying but can somebody help me out here? I can't find any info."

I can't wait to see these pics if/when they go up! That sounds like a really cool toy. My cat would be terrified of it.

Actually i've seen these, not the Mini Cooper one yet, but ive seen about 6 other models. They are for sale at Meijer's (Michigan mainly) and i plan to check them out tonight and do a bit of research (its nice to have a boring job).

But i do want to see pics of the model/packaging to reference the ones i plan to see!

Very similar to this, if i am thinking correctly.

I seen the one above, a Lightning, a PT Cruiser (at Target in the Automotive section).

Good luck...I'll keep

Please don't make fun of the SSR. You might hurt its feelings.

Seriously though, I think the SSR is quite incredible. I'd love to own one of them. My wife hates the MINI (yep, she drives..and loves... her purple Geo Metro and hates the MINI...go figure)and I might be able to convince her that one of those might be cool. She used to like my '90 S-10. So maybe this won't be too difficult for her to fall in love with.

mightyMiniz(Ithink it was) just emailed me and said he'll put the pics up shortly. If he doesn't get to it, than I'll send them to you, jscobie. Thanx for the offer of assistance.

Yes, those other models look like the ones that I've seen. When I went there to take a look, they had the Lightning(Damn I miss her), a VW Bug, the Chev SSR, and a PT Crapper in the 1:6 scale. The MINI version is really selling quick. They're all gone.
But like I was saying before. This thing isn't going to break any land speed records. It's not all too fast. But it does have 3 gears. But then again I'm used to the gas powered versions of R/C fun.
Cheers all,

I think the SSR is TOO SWEET! That may be my next purchase. It was a toss up when I was deciding if I should wait for the SSR or go with the MINI. I am happy with my decision, but the first SSR I see on the road will get MY fifty questions. lol If you look around, I have found a toy SSR, pulling a MINI on a trailer. It comes as a package deal. Very cool....at least someone has good taste.

Well, I'm 6'2". So I'm not a small boy at all. It's a good 2 feet long by a foot wide.
Thanx for posting them, 'mighty'

I have a 1/12th scale by Saicon. It's about one foot long. And it IS pretty fast. It really helped with the wait for the real thing.

Are you serious? Three gears? You mean Like on the 1:8th scale nitro cars that use a centrifugal clutch to engage the appropriate gear depending upon shaft RPMs? Or do you mean three positions on the speed controller like 1/3 power, 2/3 power, full-power? Or is there a gear shift control on the remote?

No, this isn't anything serious here. There's a button on the remote that changes the speed. Don't think there's anything too eloborate in there. Just different power levels of speed(fast, medium, and slow).
I have one of the Nitro gas powered cars. It's nothing like that. My carburator in it is shot though. Hit 62.5km/h across a parking lot in it. Woo hoo!

Hmm...since BMW hasn't produced an all wheel drive MCS yet, I could build my own 1/10th scale AWD MINI...oh that sounds like fun!!

I got a tyco BRG/W MCS one, it doesn't say the scale on the box, but it is pretty small. Also very cheap: only 9.99$ at Fred Meyer (store in the pacific northwest) in Klamath Falls, OR. It doesn't have very good range and isn't very fast, but it sure can chase the cats.
