So when does the next ship leave to cross the pond?

My Cooper S has been sitting at the port waiting for a boat since last Thursday. Any way of knowing when the next ship leaves, or what a typical wait time might be? (although I realize this will vary drastically)

Go here, select "Auto cargo" from the menu on the right, and enter your VIN.

Your vehicle, if not waitlisted, should be booked on the RESOLVE, check your individual results from the Auto cargo results. Should list, from the bottom off the screen, kinda like this:

LOADED ON VESSEL SOUTHAMPTON 01/04/2005 14:50
RECEIVED AT TERMINAL SOUTHAMPTON 25/03/2005 19:26
READY TO SCAN AT TERMINAL SOUTHAMPTON 25/03/2005 19:24
BOOKED SOUTHAMPTON 24/03/2005 07:54

Booking date (transportation request from MINI), arrival at Southampton, inbound scan, and loaded on vessel.

Clicking on the "Voyage Priority" link on this page should give you the schedule for the RESOLVE.

Good Luck!

Next ship crossing the pond??

I was told when I called ask mini, that if you're a west coast delivery, Wallenius Wilhelmsen is not the carrier, its NYK and you can't get their info. Mine has been sitting at Southhampton since the 3/23 and is still waiting....

Crusin Together on the RESOLVE!

My Mini is crusin with your mini. Following your lead I searched my VIN and found the following:

Loaded on Vessel 01/04/2005 17:13
Received at Terminal 30/03/2005 20:59
Ready to Scan at Terminal 30/03/2005 19:29
Booked 25/02/2005 15:13

Has anyone tried to track this ship using CallSigns. I have had no luck yet but still trying.

Hey ship mate! I tried tracking the Resolve here:

http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...5.4&radius=500

But, it does not show up. There may be other tracking sites.

Also, not sure where we get off at. The Resolve make stops at New York and Baltimore and then Charleston.

Anyway, more important, where will Fred call home, what are his specs?

White 16" web spokes
DSC
LSD
Cold weather package
Front/rear fog lamps
Black leatherette

How do you get the VIN? From the Mini Ownders website? Or from your dealer? Mine says it's enroute, but I'm still trying to track the ship.

Okay, I've found the VIN number, but it says "'No tracking information is available for the Cargo ID you entered"

So, how do I find it?

I got that message when I made a typo.
Also, I have heard the west coast uses a different carrier. Where is your dealer?

Yes, my 05 MCS with JCW is being delivered to the west coast. It's currently "en route" and I ordered from the Salt Lake City Mini dealer, Mini of Murray.

Any out there smart on west coast deliveries, ship names, and tracking? I'd love to follow this thing across the ocean. Thanks.

Well, my status as of saturday is 'en route'. Expected arrival date is April 11th. But for whatever reason when I enter my VIN on the tracking site it doesn't show up This is an east coast car, so I assume it would be there. Oh well, guess i'll keep trying, but at least I now have an expected arrival date.

I have heard that the if the MINI is just lashed to the deck, it does not show on the site.

I am sure it fine, it's like the Rabbi said, "it won't be long now!

Hi Drew, what's your specs.?

Hi Drew, what's your specs.?
Hi Mark, specs are below. I was getting a little nervous Friday because mine was shown as waitlisted for the Resolve, with a long list of other cars that were also waitlisted that were checked in several days before mine. But it made it! Maybe the other ones were dealer-spec'ed cars and therefore had lower priority? Dunno

There is a European classic car show here in Dallas on the 24th that the local MINI club is planning on attending. Would be great if mine was here in time for that, but that may be overly optimistic. There have been a lot of other local MINI events that I've missed out on (Sunday was a chance to take a few laps around a nearby racetrack), so I am chomping at the bit to get the car so I can participate.

Good to meet a couple of folks on the same boat. Since I'm in Texas, mine is coming through Charleston, so you & Fred may get yours before me. Be sure to post pics when you can.

Dark silver/black soft top
Black leatherette
Cold weather package
Front fog lamps
Rear fog lamp
Chrome line interior
On-board computer
Multifunction steering wheel
16-in. “7-fin” wheels

Drew, Fred,

Interesting, looks like we all choose the 16" wheels. I think (there I go, doing that again ) it was a combination of ride and performance. Can't help but feel the 17's" were a little heavy. Actually I ordered everything in the "sport" package "al a carte" just to get the 16's.

How did you guys come to this decision?

Oh, I suppose it is a faux paw to go O.T. but I just had my third Martini; breaking all the rules tonight!

Personally, I got the 17's. However I plan on having them off the car by the end of the first month of ownership. My reasoning being that when I sell the car i'll put the 17's back on, and they will likely be better for resale as they seem to be more common in my area than the 16's.

Matt,

I think you are absolutly right. Everyone at work liked the 17's much more and it seems to be the latest in looks.

So, did you find anything else out about your MCS? I know last I heard you were "in route"!

Mark - I chose the 16" wheel because I liked the looks better than the 17's. I ordered the all season based upon recommendation from sales rep at Ottos.

The wheels with the the all season look better than performance.

Looking forward to Mini Day soon to arrive.

Haven't heard anything new. But as long as the website says the car is 'en route' and scheduled to arrive April 11th then i'm happy. It would be nice to be able to track it on a ship, but it doesn't affect how long i'll have to wait, and likely would make the waiting even tougher.

I couldn't really tell a difference, performance-wise, but I could tell a difference in the ride. I live in an older part of town with some pretty beat-up streets, and I thought the 17's combined with the runflats would be too harsh for daily use. Plus I'm one of the few who just prefer the looks of a taller sidewall.

As for the all-season (V-spoke) vs. performance (7-fin), it was a tossup. I ended up going with the 7-fin's just because you don't see them as often.

Hey Fred, I'm curious if you ordered the LSD, and if not, if you have any regrets. I am really catching flak for leaving it off, but I drove the demo (no LSD) as aggressively as I am going to drive mine and I never detected any slippage. Just wondering.

Hi Guys, My MCS was finished TODAY!!! I will be taking delivery in Utah and driving it home. I have a question about the break in period w/ my 800 mile drive home from the dealer. Break in instructions indicate that you should vary your speed; hard to do when you are trying to get home and travel on a freeway for most of the miles. Any ideas or thought on this??? Is it bad to cruise at 3000 rpm for 10 hours?????

just vary your speed from 65 to 80 and cruise in 4th, 5th, and 6th alternately at all those different speeds. Do a fair amount of part throttle accelerating and whatnot. Just vary your loads and RPMs, you'll be fine.

Utah huh? Me too! Do you know when your's is arriving? I'm trying to track down someone, anyone, who can tell me what ship is going to the west coast and how to track it. No luck yet.

If you see me there, I'll be the one with the gigantic smile on my face.
