Sports seats uncomfterable - Help

OK I am a big guy...yea I know it. 6'4" 240. I drive alot in my 05 MCS 14,000 miles in 6 months. If I sit in the sport seat for more than an hour by bum stars to bother me. I am thinking of replacing the seats, loosing the side airbags (I really dont want to do this). Any good options for a big guy. It should also look like a car seat and not a racing seat. I am 36 and cant put a seat that a 18-20 yo would put.

Also I have a 5yo who gets in the back. Seat easily rolling forward is a must.

Did I metion buget on this one? Its small. I also need to checkerboard my roof.

Try the standard seats. Should be very easy to find someone willing to swap for your seats. Plus you wontt't lose the air bags.

Are the standard seats wider in the but and thighes. I dont have a big but! Its in my upper legs that I find them too narrow or too high.

I'm not as big as you,5'-7" 160 lbs. When I was buying my MINI,I found the sport seats good for holding me in place, but not as comfy as the standard seats.I went with the standard seats.
You could probably find someone here on Nam to do a swap with.Even if you paid for all the shipping, would be cheap.Make them a deal were you get their seats, swap the seats, then you ship.

You should go to your dealer and sit in an MC with standard seats to see if they're for you. At one time I would've jumped at swapping my standard seats for sports seats, but I've gotten used to them. I always found them comfortable, but I just think the sports seats look better and I like the feeling of being held in, which the standard seats don't do. Good luck to you!

I have a set of Standard seats that I took out of my MINI. Make me an offer if you want them.

I'm only 5'9" and of rather thin frame. I noted the height adjust isn't exactly up and down. It actually rocks the seat forward and back also, which changes the seat angle. It took a good two or three weeks before I found a position to suited me. Once there, I'm afraid to change it. But I still like the seats. I'm sure your MINI dealer won't mind you sitting in one of their demos for a few hours to get a good feel for the standard seats. When I bought my car, I had a demo for a whole afternoon.

I also second the comments on the standard seats. We have them in our '02 MC. They are flatter, thus making entry/exit easier than the sport seats. There were some changes made to the standard seats for 2005, so I can't comment on the comfort level of those, but based on 5+ hour drives that we have made in the past couple of years with the '02 MC, I can tell you the standard seats are not bad at all. The only thing I don't really like about them is the shape of the headrest which is better formed in the sport seats.

This is interesting, because I find the standard seats in our '02 MC more comfortable in the higher setting, whereas the sport seats in my new '05 MCS, seems to be more comfortable the lower you adjust them.

I am 5-10, 170 pounds, medium frame.

Me too

I have a pair of non-sport seats as well that I would sell at a reasonable price. They are black leatherette. They are in excellent condition. I switched to sport seats.
