Mine as well is a mid-november build..and sure enough the hatch release is under the back seat with that elusive pull ring on it......

 

Mine has the boot release. It is located on the hump under the rear seats. Not under the rear passenger seat as stated in the owners manual and on the cd.

I think there is a real problem here that mini needs to address. Not just the cars that don't have the cable but the whole thing of what features are there and what is not there. It appears that no one can tell a customer every feature that the cars have (Ex. daytime running lights follow me home lights key functions etc.) and get right. There are way to many people in this org. (bmw/mini) that are misinformed and are answering our questions incorectly.

 

Just checked under my seat ..... no pull ring. I'll be calling the dealer about getting it fixed. Thanks for the heads-up!

Curious, I too had to check. Upon lifting my rear seat, lo and behold, there was a Ring. I pulled it and *pop* the boot opened.
