Pics of me and my new MINI!

We've been together for 9 days and 600 miles, and I love her just a little more every day!

We celebrated our 1 week anniversary by going on a nice drive into the eastern San Diego County desert. Lots of twisties!

I need some practice with the glamour shots...

Yay! Great pix, Diva/Carol! Very pretty and the MINI is nice, too! I'm rolling down to La Jolla tomorrow to visit me mum! Where in San Diego are you?

I live in Mission Valley, work in Sorrento Valley. Both are near La Jolla. I go into La Jolla for lunch quite often.

Those pics were taken with a 1st gen Elph. I used to think I had an eye for photo composition, but never was able to make any photo look the same as I imagined. I supported myself as a designer for years, took a basic photography course, but have never worked at getting better. I have a great appreciation for photography of all kinds, but especially portraits. In my marketing job, I work with photographers often for advertising shots. I stand back and watch, hoping that I am learning something.

One of my life goals is to work to become a decent hobby photographer. And learn conversational French...but that's another story!

Congrats! Did Brecht MINI treat you OK? I ordered my LY/B MCSC from them about 2 weeks ago and so far a good experience.

Divamac,
You and your MINI are both very photogenic!!!! I know what you mean about loving her a little more each day, I find the same thing happening after just over two years of MINI motoring. I must admit some envy though, you probably have much better/more fun roads to take her out on than I do here on the prairie. I envy you that awesome EB color, too....they still won't let us have that on Coopers.

Congratulations Carol!

I grew up in San Diego and used to spend a lot of time out there in the Anza Borrego Desert. It is such a beautiful place. I really miss it. There are certainly a lot of fun roads to explore out in that area. Enjoy your new ride.

Hiya! We saw you this weekend!!! But we weren't in the MINI. We took my parents out that way (in their car) - of course we had to stop at Dudley's and the Julian Pie Company - Yummy!!! Nice pixs!!!

I started looking last summer and worked with Sean. I thought he was decent if not a little defensive about the 20% mark-up. I didn't buy then because of the mark-up and generally being gun-shy about buying a new car. (This is my first new car since 1992). When I went back a few weeks ago (after building my perfect Mini online several times), the mark-up was down to 10%, and Sean basically said that they could make it go away if asked. Didn't much matter. There was the EB MCS on the lot that was very similar to the one I would have built (I probably would have gone for white roof/mirror caps and bonnet stripes). It was a demo with 340 miles and they were willing to forego the mark-up if I took the R90 wheels that were on it ($-wise it was a wash). I went home to sleep on it, did some math and decided to go for it. When I went back the following day, Sean was off, so Mike actually sold me the car. I was really pleased with Mike. Maybe it's because he drives a Mini and is more of an enthusuast than Sean. Anyhow, he was patient with all of my questions, ran the numbers every which way from Sunday, and basically made the process very easy for me. He even extended the warranty when I asked him to. I was pleased overall.

I do have some lingering concerns about Brecht - service and lack of loaner cars. I asked Sean about it at one point and his answer ("BMW builds the cost of a loaner fleet into its price, Mini doesn't") to be bogus. Brecht is still charging 10% mark-up. Seems like they could afford a small loaner fleet for us Mini drivers. I think, though, that with a good relationship and an available Bimmer, Mini drivers could get a loaner if they ask nicely.

With all the new service bays they are buiding, service wait times should shorten considerably in the future, so that will be good.

Too bad we didn't bump into you in Julian and share some pie!

Suprisingly, I only saw one other MINI that day - a CR/W coming down 79 into Santa Ysabel. We beeped and waved at each other while my husband rolled his eyes He totally doesn't get it!

Congrats, but do me a favor. Don't smile too much or people will

Very nice - the EB/EB is a cool look. My dad was out around Borrego on Saturday, too (if you saw a red S2000 scream by at 9000 rpm, that was probably him). He said he spent half of Sunday cleaning dead butterflies off of it!

On another note: Please get rid of those dealer license plate frames as soon as you get your real plates! Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine. Pep Boys on El Cajon Blvd has a lovely selection of black and chrome metal frames (and gold chain versions, too, if you really want to dress her up someday).

Congrats Carol!! Nice color mini. That elph sure does take pretty good pics. Since I am in need of a digicam so so so bad I might look on ebay and see if I can find me one. I've always liked the elphs b/c of there small size. I guess the same way I liked the mini. LOL
