Two wiper questions

as the title said I"ve got two questions for everyone:

First, something I just noticed today, the passenger front wipers don't make complete contact with the glass in sitting position. It's only the very right edge (looking from inside). I've never noticed before. Is this new or has it been always like this?

Second, something that I've always noticed, but thought was normal. In snow, when thinks are a little sticky, the rear wipers only clean 2/3 of the window and leaves a haze on the rest. When it is just simple rain it does a fine job, but when it's snow or rain that has dried on there, it simply makes a huge haze instead.

Are these things normal or should i be taking a trip to the dealer?

Normal. Always been this way in the car. Nothing to worry about.

Also, fairly normal. In fact, I think many people stop using the rear wiper unless with the washers, because the road grime just makes it more of a mess than less. It has to do with the fact the backend is all straight up and down --- seems to just get dirty and hold the grime more -- making the wiping process ICKY.

Hope this helps,
PB

You could also get a replacement rear wiper filler to see if things improve a bit. It's $3 at a MINI dealer, and a 30 second install.

The '05 rear wash/wipe system was redesigned, perhaps to address part of what you comment about. Haven't had mine long enough to see if it is an improvement over the '03. Mostly, it is that the wash spray now squirst directly in a stream to the middle of the window, rather than being attached to the wiper arm.

I just checked out the back window with a little road dirt and a light rain. The wipers alone were really no different than my 03 Cooper. However, with the washer on -- it did get it cleaner than the 03, but it hazed over again rather quickly.

Now this was the combo of road grime and a LIGHT rain.

well.. i actually have an 05 pre january build. So, as far as I know, it's still quite messy and I would be surprised to hear that it used to be worse.

Thanks all for the responses though, got a little freaked out for a bit.
