That would be ye olde black ice warning....

It does it at 37 degrees F. It is to make you aware of potentially icy conditions.

I'm really surprised your dealer didn't know what the heck was going on.

Happy Motoring!

Actually, it's more of a warning for bridges, which freeze sooner than roadways...my '89 BMW does the same at 36 degrees...

Keep an eye out for that black ice...

This is a feature on the BMW too. When the outside temp dips below 37 degrees it beeps to alert you that ice could soon be forming. Your dealer is an idiot if he didn't know that!

THANK YOU! I was wondering what that little <ding> was as well. This must also be the reason why the temp flashes when you cycle through the computer menu.

Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.

Yep, my '89 325iX did it at 36 Farenheit as well. Just a little reminder to be alert to bridges.

If it does, it should be removed so that the car is put in more possible situations that could total it.

Also, if you didn't know it, you can change your temp display from 'c to 'f, just in case you are this side (USA) of the pond.

Perhaps that tone and flashing temperature has some correlation to the 8 inches of surprise snow I just drove home from work in....

CLOSET Aztek freak!? Come on now...everyone knows how I feel about the 'Teks. I plan to start auto-xing them within the next year. Or high speed drag racing.....you know that tent would make a great parachute.
