just had a thought about dealerships

we now live in an age of text messaging, IM's, emails, other forums of text communications. why can't our engagements at a dealership be like that. that way we have proof of what they said while purchasing... because everything a dealer tells me i assume its a lie unless of course is written down.

so instead of talking to a salesman, just logonto AOL IM and type away while they sit across from u at their desk finaling prices and such. weird.....

anywayz just a thought, im sure there are perfectly good dealerships SOMEWHERE out there....

don't mind me im a new mini owner now.

You answered your own question. It would be written down & don't apologise, now that you own a Mini your'e free to think outside the box without guilt

I think it'd be great. I've noticed recently that a lot of places are turning to instant messaging style commuication for customer service.

Univeristy of Michigan has an online librarian that has help me MANY (many!) times and just a few weeks ago I had a chat with a Sony customer service rep. Even better, once you're done talking, they autosend you a transcript of the conversation.

I had no problem with my dealership, Long Beach MINI, as far as sales. They were polite, honest and straight-forward with me.

I have more issues with SERVICE! That is where records of communications would be very handy, and would keep them "honest!" It gets so tiresome when you mention a KNOWN MINI ISSUE and hear "Really? That's the first we've ever heard of that....nobody else has had that issue." That actually happened to me with: dash rattles and in the '02, when I asked about the coolant reserve tank.

When I picked up my new Mini in '03. The "stubble" I was told, would go away after 1000 miles (adaptive memory) Yea right! Thats when I rearranged the letters on the back of my car to spell OOPS. Ofcorse I was aware of it before I got the car because I discovered NAM.

Are you referring to the engine "stumble"? I just had the two service bulletins (aka recalls) done on Wanda this week and although I don't think I had any stumble, she seems to be running smoother and better than ever!

The best way to get rid of a 1000 mile stubble is to use a fresh razor.

But seriously, the stumble is here to stay. I think it's just an unavoidable consequence of having a software controlled throttle. Every car I've owned with an electronic throttle has had this problem. It's just a question of degree.

I had no real problems with my dealership. Everyone it seems at Moritz is a MINI owner themselves and so are pretty knowledgeable.

There was an issue of whether I had ordered the grey seats or the black (I ordered the Black, got Grey by mistake). But you are right......90% of my correspondence was email. It was nice to be able to go back to the email where I said that I wanted black seats and be able to go "See.... here it is".

Stubble ? I'm stipid, I meaned stuttle, its log sinus beed fixt .

Mine is an '03. At that time we were refering to a total loss of power in 1st.gear that happened momentarily causing the car to buck harshly as power came back as abruptly as it lost it. Meanwhile all dealerships called it "huh?" I racked up 10k before they came up with a patch. #36 I believe.

Now, they are probably refering to what we call yo-yo, when they say stumble which is the bypass valve butterfly fluttering due to (ask Ryephile) a weak spring, which they will probably try to correct with a software patch.(treat the symptom, not the cause) = less work >warranty >lots of cars.
