Just wanted to let everyone know that I setup a webpage for Gran Turismo 4 racing. There was enough interest for me to spend the time creating it. I hope to include everyone from NAM in some fun laptime comparing!

I went and bought one just so I could play GT4

 

What tires were you running? that 7:45 is incredibly fast for a stock MCS; a full minute faster than the best times on S2 tires.

Hi Mark,

That is a problem with the game! No matter how much power you put down, it will always stay at the "stock" horsepower (160bhp). Try it! Which is why I am not too excited about running in a "stock competition."

Actually, I am putting down about 267bhp (I think 235 ft-lbs of torque) out of that 1.6L, using only nitrous on the 1/4 mile run. I can only imagine that people are "tweaking" their cars to get that little extra out of them in other contests... I find it more challenging when you cram as much power as you can under a hood and still get the car to handle well!

I ran R/SS tires all the way around! Suspension, brakes, and everything done to the motor.

That's awesome! I did that very thing for "Valentine's Day." I waited and waited for GT4 to come out and bought the system solely for this game! Wife thinks I am nuts, but she actually watches the game now! Also bought FIFA 2005, but that is collecting dust now...

Which stocker and which course?

If it is Nurburgring, that is a toughy... Takes time to learn the course! Not really impressed with the Espirit in stock form... Can't put my finger on it yet though as to why...

Absolutely my pleasure! I am just glad that there is some interest to compete. This game is pretty cool and fun to play, not to mention cheaper than modifying the real thing! So I was hoping for some friendly competition among MINI owners! Create some good banter!

It is fun though, I was talking some serious #$&* the other day about my lap time and now I just got beat! Time to shut up and crawl under my desk!

Can't wait to see what you come up with! There are enough options and tracks to go nuts with!

Unless someone brings another track, I hope to include the 'Original' tracks as well, maybe this weekend? Not sure, we will see how time goes!

 

So what are people racing under? Time Trial or Arcade...does it make a difference? Other than the ability to keep going if you like.

 

That is a good question! I believe most people are racing under Time Trial (Simulation) mode. Under arcade, are the cars stock? If so, I imagine that you could get going right away if you are just starting out! I thought under the previous versions, the arcade cars had a few modifications (sounded differently)! Not sure about GT4 though!

Give it go and see what you come up with! Everyone is pretty flexible!

Are you just starting out? If so, I would do the arcade mode to hold you over... Then as you get into the game, make the switch to your personal cars! That would probably best for you to compete now as you build your garage on the side!

 

Yeah - pretty new into the game. I was able to knab it the day it came out, but haven't really had time to play it.....
