R50/53 Anyone remove warning labels from visor?
I probably should have tried the denatured alcohol, but I had both Goo Gone and Goof Off in the house, as well as hand sanitizer, which is mostly alcohol, so off I went to get rid of those ugly air bag warning labels.
I used a combination of all 3 liquids and the labels did ultimately come off.
However, I found it more time consuming a task that indicated in this thread :impatient ,so maybe the concoction was the issue. While it did not damage the visor, there is an outline that remains from where the label had been and there is a place or two on each visor where the tiniest of specs of label just would not be removed (I’m talking like the head of a pin size; no one else will see it, unless I point it out to them).
Maybe there are different types of labels that have been used over time. My manufacture date was May 2006 and I'd have to say these labels fought for their dear lives.
This was just one more mod for my growing record! I am sure I voided the warranty and sacraficed a few hp with this modification
, but I couldn't stand to look at them any longer!
This weekend was small mod weekend, as I also bought four nylon screw plugs at Sears to close of the holes in the two doors at a cost of about $1.50.
I wish I could have found the chrome ones with the skull & cross bones (I checked Home Depot and Lowes too) that I had read about here on the thread devoted to these plugs.

Blackie,
If you want to hide the area where your warning label used to be and where there is a small residue left behind, Mike at Aesthetic Creations can make a replacement label for you with any design you can come up with.
Here's the one I just put up this weekend.

That is a great idea! You could really get creative with different designs.I have removed the labels from my GP using denatured alcohol and it worked just fine. It only took about 1/2 hour and it seems that the faint outline is disappearing over time. Maybe it was because I took them off shortly after delivery and they didn't have time to bake in the sun. I was going to try and remove the visors to do this but the little buttons covering the screws are pretty stubborn so to not risk scratching them I did the job in the car. Steve

Use the strongest denatured/rubbing alcohol you can get (90%, not 70%). I found that this was key.
I just flipped my visors around so the sticker was facing up. Take a few paper towels, fold them into the same size as the sticker, wet the paper towels in the alcohol and place them on the sticker. Let this sit for about 5-10 minutes, adding more alcohol to the paper towel if it gets dry.
Then rub the corner of the sticker and it should come off easily. I got both of mine off in one piece.
I love the clean look. Much better without the stickers.

Just be careful not to drip any alcohol on anything in the interior. It could discolor it. The alcohol works perfect though. I took them off when I first brought my MINI home. It looks so much better clean.
This Worked For Me!
This is for a brand new MCS Vert. so they are very visible when the top is down. YUCK! The stickers were almost like a silkscreen type with a very thin layer of material, hard to describe.
OK, tried the alchohol, Goof Off, Wd40, Nothing budged it until I tried something I had sitting in the garage. It's called Dad's Latex Drip remover. It is designed for removing dried water based paint. It worked after letting it sit for about 30 seconds. No residue, no marks. Can't even tell the stickers were there to begin with.
Bottom line I suspect that over the years they used different stickers so that could be why some were having better success and others none. Try the above, one at a time. Don't be shy.
Final word, REMOVE the visor. Mine had two philips screws loding them onto the metal frame. Very easy. Some have stated they had covers over them.
