What color was THAT???

I was behind a Cooper yesterday, in a color I had never seen before - a sort of pale, metallic, silvery bluish-green color. Is/was this a factory color?

Silk Green metallic was the shortest lived MINI color ever offered. It was discontinued from production on January 2003. Velvet Red Metallic, another rare Cooper color was also discontinued at the end of the 2003 model year (August 2003).

Silk Green was only offered in the Cooper model and could also be ordered with the now discontinued Emerald Green standard leather seats and silk green interior door panels.

I pine for Velvet Red!

Oh, man. There would be no question of color option if Velvet red were still a color. There's no denying how HOT that color is on a MINI!

Hey, does anyone know what kind of rims are those? I kind of like them for my LY Open.

Yep - thanks, everyone. It was Silk Green!

And 05MCSa - I saw a Velvet Red MC(S?) here in Sacramento a few months ago. I don't think I have ever seen a color that looked uglier when it was dirty. Really gross looking - as in, "Hey, man, who threw up on your car?"

(Sorry - don't mean to offend anyone with a VR MINI!)

Wow, is it really that rare? I see at least 2-3 SG MCs every day.

In Chicago, there are a couple SG MINI's round these parts too, or maybe it's the same one, still motoring vigorously . Either way, luv it.

No offense taken -- Clean or dirty, I'm quite fond of my VR/B MINI no matter what anyone else thinks! VR was available only in the Cooper model.

To me they look like TENZO's SHU-4. A lot of other companies produce the same design.

Funny, I just saw a SG today on a used car lot and was going to ask about the color. Good timing!
