Looks like an accent color. When the stock lower grille slat is removed the support piece left behind is body color. Most either paint it black or use electric tape to make it blend with the new aero grille. Looks like Wenzor wanted a little flare!

Top looks great also. In the 2005 "You-ification Workbook" they suggest using 6" plastic salad plates for some rest stop checkers.

Thanks guys! yes that is red vinyl behind the aero grill. I did all the vinyl myself. The top was fun to do!
