I've spent every hour tracking my MINI...calling during my frees at school and everything - all the way up through today, when it arrived at the dealer. When I got home, I called my dealer and asked him when I can pick it up. He told me that there was a little paperwork that needed to come in and be filed, and unfortunately, he's going on vacation. I'll have to wait until Dec. 30 to get my baby, while it sits in the showroom only a few miles away. Oh well. At least it'll make for an even more exciting birthday. (New Year's Eve...getting my license and my MCS. I CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER!!!)

I sure hope...I think I'm going to have to take a little camping trip and pitch a tent in the mini showroom!

I've been there, I think. When my MINI came in, it was unloaded from the truck, but I had to wait about another week for the certificate of origin to come in from BMW (the certificate was nesc. to generate a title...which of course I needed to register the car). Seems that BMW runs a bit slow generating its MINI paperwork at times.

But assuming that your paperwork -- whatever it is -- comes in any day now, how come you can't take delivery from another salesperson at the dealer? Why does one person's vacation mean that YOU have to wait? Unless you have some sort of extra special relationship with this salesperson, I'd push to take delivery from ANYONE as soon as the paperwork shows up. Gee..."delivery" is mostly signing forms and it takes (took me at least) all of 10 minutes.

Just my 2 cents...

I have a feeling he might wanna sell me some more MINI paraphernalia. The way I'm looking at it now is that I won't have my licence until the 31st anyway, so at least this way, I won't have to surpress my urges to go on a little pre-license drive.

My dealer and I believe, MINIQUEEN, of Westchester MINI says that there is no such thing as "delayed paperwork" although a bunch of dealers claim there is. I literally was at my dealer minutes after he was unloaded and took him home 2 hours later! Nothing but fun ever since! 5400 miles in 10 weeks!

I completely understand I had a few weeks of paperwork shufflening back and forth from Atl to TX to do soo I had to sit and look at my MINI from afar B4 I could drive her off BUT it was sooooo worth the wait (and hell what are those two weeks anyway compared to 1. The ammount of time allready spent waiting and 2. the amount of time you WILL spend driving!!)

Our local dealer, in Massachusetts, said there'd be a couple of days delay for the paperwork to arrive. But New Hampshire, where we live, only required the VIN # to issue a 10-day temporary license plate, so we were able to pick up the car immediately.
The dealer was going to send us the paperwork when it arrived, but a FedEx truck with the Certificate of Origin arrived while we were still there. So it's pretty clear those certificates don't travel with the car and there can be some lag time.

SkAlex, you'll enjoy the car like crazy, but please, please be super careful. A new driver and a hot car is an accident-prone combination. We've already read enough crash stories on this site and I know first-hand from my kids and their friends how many newly liensed drivers are involved in wrecks.
