Didn't really want to put the new Alabama tag with shades of blue on my Chili Pepper Red Cooper, so I went with this (restricted to 6 letters).

Thanks, I admit it's not very original, but The Italian Job movies were great; nice to do a tribute to them. Yeah, he's a cool cat. I had just pulled in; he always sniffs the cars when we get home.

Nice one.

We're restricted to 6 in Alaska as well - it really stinks because I could come up with a bunch of ideas if we were allowed 7. I'm so glad my first choice "MINIAC" was available...don't know what I would have done otherwise...

That's funny, I did a search on the State license database. MINIAC was taken, as well as M1N1AC. A couple of other ones (not taken) I thought about were HADAV8, and BBREV8 (with the A in front, that makes ABBREV8). The regular Alabama tag has 7 characters, but the collegiate one is 6.

The ALWS OPN refers to the drivers state of mind and willingness to accept suggestions.
But if it helps, here is a picture of the MINI with the top down.

And here is one with the license plate visible and the top down.

Note the rain drops on the boot indicating that it is raining and yet the top is down....

Jeremy1026 you have very good taste in vanity tags.

But it's a good kind of crazy! The bad news is NY is changing their license plate design to a puke green/yellow background with dark blue letters and numbers. It is FUGLY. To add insult to injury, you will pay $25 for the privilege of attaching said plate to your car when you reregister your car, and double that if you want to keep your same plate number. The reason the DMV is giving is that the reflectivity of the current plates doesn't measure up to standards. You can see from your picture that argument is pure BS.

Mine is 06 JCW S (for obvious reasons). Great fun on track and off. Building up mods.

That is creative, but it appeals only to the owner and a very small group of MINI owners who know that the car's color is pepper white 99.9% of people don't know what it means and probably assumes the driver is a Beatles lover. (Sidenote: pepper white means it's a white car with a cute marketing adjective thrown in front of the name to make it a cute color and car, the same as my red car. I mean, is my car really the color of a chili?).

My plate too has a cryptic meaning (GNATSTR). I get asked all the time what it means, no one gets it. I have had to explain it so many times that I have a memorized response to the question. "You remember Napster? Well that's a play on it, being the MINI is small, like a gnat."

No one ever says "Hey, that's cool." Nope, they respond "Oh" and move on to other things.

One time a girl stopped me in my parking garage and asked about it. She said that she and her husband were arguing over what it meant. She said he was right. So that's some comfort for me, that the plate is a word puzzle stimulating discussion in marriages (but maybe breaking them up?)

There is another dimension to your tag "GNATSTR." Remember 'The Italian Job', most recent version? Starring Mini Coopers, of course. One of the characters, played by Seth Green, felt that his college roommate had ripped off his idea for on-line digital song sharing, which became Napster.

Don't feel too bad about that, Jab... I've got "MINIAC" and it's just incredible to me how many people have asked me, "What does MINI, A, C mean?"

You can hold off on that PhotoBlocker. The people's collective voice has been heard. The new license plate plan is DEAD!!

And here I was starting to rationalize how it might not be too bad for a PW/B - I do have a yellow CarFun Footprint badge and yellow in my "Let's Motor" badge on the driver's side.

That new and now dead plan would have been awful for a CR... I'm glad it's dead!
