I ordered two plates a couple weeks ago and will decide which one I want to use.

Here in California one can order plates and simply pay the annual "upkeep" fee. The plates do not have to be assigned to a car. Can buy on spec too, I guess.

I don't know about the area you live in, but in Florida and South Carolina you submit 3 choices and then you're normally advised by letter if your choices were acceptable.
If they were approved then you would normally receive the tag in about 4 to 6 weeks (less with the new flat tags), otherwise I would expect a letter of rejection.
As for your TPDNPLC ... Whatever does it mean

CabrioPilot - you're funny! And you're right!

TPDNPLC = Top Down Place? Please? Police?

You guys have to do the plates through the mail? Wow. I checked to make sure mine were not taken online, and I could have just gone up to the DMV registration window to get them. of course things couldn't be THAT easy for me -- we live in VA, but were registering two vehicles in OH (home state)...and of COURSE the cars weren't with us when we went home to do it, and of COURSE they didn't give me the right info to bring! Ah well. I paid dad extra bucks to get our plates for us w/ a POA. Luckily I gave him three of my choices, since they didn't like my first: MINIAAC.

Here's one I really like - RVO3VOM - of course it only works in states that require a front tag and SC does not.

TOP DOWN POLICE! I know it's a hard one ti figure out even my mother in law couldn't figure it out. I finally got them, I put them on the car and took a pic and it's too big I have to go back and take a close up. I am really happy that they finally arrived.

I was even thinking of having a business card made up that says "You have been policed" with stamp of a MINI convertible. Just for fun. What do you think?

Hey loislane,Is California still making raised vanity tags or have they gotten cheap like South Carolina and gone to the flat tags?

My plates (in the spirit of the '60's) read DREWVY 1. My first name plus groovy.

Spotted on an MCS, yellow w/black stripes, KLR B 2.
Spotted on a white MC, WINNIE.
