6 ppl, Mardi Gras, and one Mini Cooper!!!! Well

Ok Ok We only had 6 people in the Mini for a total of 5 min. A good friend of mine thought we could fit 6 ppl in My Mini for a 50 min trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Needless to say that lasted no more than 5 min. We had 4 in the back seat well 3 and one laying across the 3 and 2 up front. Yes i 'HAD' pics but someone(names I will not mention) deleted them. I do have a few from My cell I took If I could ever figure out how to post pics on here. Could someone please tell me? Well here's a few with the attachment thing.

See this FAQ for how to upload pictures to the gallery. Then you can copy paste your pictures from the gallery into your post once they are hosted.

Think the standing record for this is 21 or 22 people? Six people? Must be riding low, unless they'll all lightweights.
Cheers,

YES!!! I did it. well i was close to figuring it out. Here's a few more pics from mardi gras. The top one is that night when we went out to Burbon st. The middle of course is a float and the last one is on the way there on the worlds longest bridge. I was pretty scared to park my Mini down there, even after the hundreds of times I have been to new orleans, but I felt a little safer when I parked next to an orange Mini Convertable that was in the same parking lot. It was a blast though and if anyone ever visit's New Orleans you can't leave without going to burbon.

The last time I was there, we showed up the same weekend the Harley convention was in town. Thousands of beautiful bikes lined Bourbon St. One of the funniest things was driving my MCS down the street we got more attention than the bikes did.

Hate to bust your bubble wild one but that is not the world's longest bridge....isn't even in the top 5. Now your pic is either the causeway bridge over lake pontchartain or the I-10 bridge over the same lake...either way - long but not a contendor.

As I was on my way from covington we took the causway. It almost looks like I-10 on this particular part I noticed. However, THE CAUSWAY IS THE WORLDS LONGEST BRIDGE OVER WATER. Here's a few links if you want to check it out. http://www.engineeringsights.org/Sig...page=1&image=0

Consisting of parallel, 24-mile-long spans, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is the world's longest overwater highway bridge and one of the oldest prestressed concrete bridges built in the U.S. Engineers loaded the bridge pieces on barges and towed them to construction points on the lake. The twin bridges are supported by more than 9,500 hollow-cylinder pilings approximately 55 inches in diameter; the largest piles ever driven at the time of the first span's construction in 1955. Since the second span opened to the public in 1969, a drawbridge has been added, along with a tracking device to detect approaching barges during foggy conditions.

Also from the Guinness world records Go to there website www.guinnessworldrecords.com and under search type longest bridge. This is what comes up. Longest Bridge
The Second Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, which joins Mandeville and Metairie, Louisiana, USA, is 38.422 km (23 miles 1,538 yd) long. It was completed in 1969.

So as far to my knowledge it still holds the record. Also the greater new orleans bridge over the mississippi is like the number 5 tallest in the world.:smile:

BUSTED!

You know I searched in the past on Louisiana bridges and could not find anywhere that said it was the longest. Damn, I just looked at a sight not long ago that listed the top 5 and it wasn't there. Maybe it was for non-water bridges or something.

Either way, I was wrong. Sorry bout that.

Matt

Haha that's ok. I happened to have one saved from a few months back b/c they had the causway on the history channel and I was really really bored looking at info about it. They were showing how it was built and stuff. Accually it's only the longest bridge over water. Not overall. But you were right. Overall it's probally like number 12 or 15 or something like that. I can't really find any sites either. Happy motoring.
