I live in South Florida and I need an alarm. I don't want to get a NON-MINI alarm (Lo Jack, etc.) because I don't want to have to carry around a second control (the keyless entry controls currently on the key & the controller for some other alarm - unless it can be integrated into the current control). I've read some posts where people are saying they got a dealer installed alarm recently. ATT. DEALERS: I'M WILLING TO DRIVE ALMOST ANYWHERE IN THE EASTERN UNITED STATED IF ANY DEALER HAS THEM AVAILABLE.

Lauderdale MINI has them available, got mine this week - $197. I never had a car cover before how you you plan to secure yours.

I'm also waiting for the alarm for my 2003!! I live in San Francisco and definitely need the alarm...my other car (Acura Legend) was stolen in August! I called Ask Mini a couple of weeks back and they said the kit wasn't available yet, they were hoping for first quarter of 2003! Forever, right? :???:

no alarms here in So. Cal yet either. My mini is due... well sometime ...the Tricolor sunk today and that is the boat I was booked on.

Perhaps when the car gets here, the alarms will be available.

Theeey're Heeeere! (almost)

Talked with the dealer yesterday and found out that they will have alarms beginning in January. They still hadn't finalized pricing, but - in Pittsburgh at least - without giving any number, it still sounds promisingly competitive. (I think I "accidentally" heard $475, but I have ABSOLUTELY NO CONFIRMATION of that).

Their manual tells them the install should take 1.5 hours, but they want to "verify" that time before they finalize pricing. He actually said that "if it takes less time, then we won't charge for the full 1.5 hours" Of course, if it takes more, well, you get the idea.

Anyhow - WOOHOO!

Oh I hope the January date is true for the alarms. I just don't sleep well at night knowing that my baby is out there w/o any protection from vandalism.

I was told by my dealer here in Philadelphia that the alarms for the 2003's will not be available until some time around March (give or take). He told me that the new satellite ready radios forced them to go back and reconfigure the alarm units for some reason or another. Every Mini is still coming pre-wired though

Motor On

I'm in So. Florida also and want an alarm. My dealer, Lauderdale MINI, told me they're not yet available for the '03 MINI S, just the MINI. No estimate of when.
