Shipping to CA--Looking for Partners

Just ordered our 3rd MINI from Julie Saxa at Classic MINI. This one is a Hot Orange MCS Cabrio with an automatic. Things haven't changed in CA, and with Bay Area dealers asking $3,000 over MSRP, the decision to return to Julie and Classic was a No-Brainer. I've yet to find a more dedicated, service-oriented salesperson than Julie @ Classic

The car is a late February build with an Mid-April delivery to Classic in Ohio. I'm intending to ship the car via Concours Transport to Santa Clara, CA in late April/early May; and am looking for other Classic buyers (or buyers between OH and CA) who are interested in reducing the cost of shipping via enclosed transport.

Since buying our first two cars in November 03, I've participated in or coordinated 3 group deliveries to CA & the West Coast. In each, buyers were very satisfied with Concours; and as Fred Koller the owner says, "The more the cheaper!"

So, if you're on the fence about buying out of state; or you're looking to reduce the cost of shipping from Classic or some other midwest or east coast dealer, please contact me. In the past we've been able to reduce the cost by up to 40% by loading up the truck with MINIs.

(Yes, I know Mini of The Hamptons offers $500 shipping through Autolog, but it's on open carriers and trains, and it's your insurance that protects the car, not Autolog's. Imagine the effect on your premiums if there's a claim before you ever drive the car!. Too many mixed results using them)

Reply to this post or PM me; and if you want a cabrio or other MC or MCS at MSRP, call or email Julie at Classic.

3 MINIs on The Truck !

Just wanted to update NAM community on the effort to find "shipping partners" for this Group Buy from Classic. Right now we have 3 orders through Julie @ Classic; and interestingly enough, all 3 are MCS automatics.

There's still time to order a March Production/April Delivery MC or MCS, Coupe or Cabrio...and all at MSRP, plis 20% off on parts and accessories.

Way to go Charlie!

Are all of them really MCSa spec? Guess BMW marketing knew what it was doing.

How many MINIs does it take to fill up a transporter?

Best wishes and thanks.

Just want to toss in my $0.02. I bought an MCS from Julie at Classic - ordered 10/04, delivered 12/04 - and I have nothing but praise. So if anyone is worried about buying a car via long distance, you'll be in good hands!

3 MINIs on the truck

The truck will hold 7 or 8, depending upon which Concours trailer does the haul. Hey, it's a great sight, off-loading a batch of MINs at one location.

Come on, join in for the trip west!

I fear that is when my car will arrive at Classic since my order was just confirmed today. Perhaps the transporter will be so long that as it rolls along I-80 (I presume) with its late-April consignments there will still be time to load the stragglers in back. Was that an acid flashback or have I been on the Internet too long?

There's always room on the truck

Lancecd & morknmini,

Well, the cars are February and March production, which means they'll arrive at Classic around the end of April, beginning of May; and then there's always the coordination of the truck's schedule. So, who knows, we may all be on the truck together in Mid-May. Time will tell

Any idea of the rate to ship a MINI to the Calif Bay Area with the current number of cars (plus one if it is not too late to place an order)?

Always Room for one More !

caminifan
The cost for shipping to the Bay Area runs between $1,400 for a single car to $900 for a load of 7 MINIs....and there's always room for one more!

With 4 on the truck, itwould be $1,300; with 6, it's $1,000; and 7 gets you to $900 a piece. All shippers are asked to provide a $50 tip to the driver as well.

Right now we have 3 confirmed orders (interestingly enough, all 3 are MCS automatics) and two more probables. You'd make it 6 !

This is shipping your MINI in an enclosed transporter, door to door. No strangers driving your car, no train rides, fully insured with Concours' insuring the trip, not your policy.

Yes, it's more expensive than the $500 advertised by certain MINI dealers online, but if you ask the nearly 100---or more--CA Classic buyers they'll tell you it was worth it.

Cut and paste your buildsheet into an email and send it to Julie today (she's off Wednesdays) and then follow up with a call on Thursday. Check Classic's homepage on NAM.

Just heard from Julie @ Classic. We've got another MINI on the truck, headed for California in May.

There's just room for 3 more MINIs on our truck...but we could start a second if need be.

Julie's working today (Sunday) at Classic, so call or email her now !

The Magnificent Seven are CA Bound

I'm happy to report we've filled the truck! Seven MINIs coming to CA and OR in Mid May, thanks to you and Classic MINI. All are MCS, at least one a JCW; three are automatics, and one a cabrio. Great group!

But wait, there's more..............

There are several more CA buyers talking to Julie, so it looks like there could be another truck coming west in mid-June. Don't wait and miss this one too. Save now and buy at Classic

Call or email Julie today 1 800 388-1098 or julie@driveclassic.com

This is quite exciting for a MINI newtobe. It will be interesting to meet some NAM folks and fun to see their cars--especially MINIs emerging from a transporter as though in a heist movie. I hope some NorCal NAM members come by whenever and wherever the drop takes place. Thanks, Charlie, for getting everyone together.

Hi Charlie. What is this now, your third or fourth Classic Mini caravan?
You have to give us a review of your auto cabrio after delivery. Like to know how you compare it to your present MINIs. BTW, found anyone to take that Boxster off your hands?

MINI Arrival Day

David,
This will be Delivery 3.5 (one had only two cars); and we're planning on asking some of the Classic "alumni buyers" to be onhand for the inveiling. Want to jet up to SCU for the day; or for that weekend in Monterey you never took?

As for the auto cabrio...well, it will be different being stopped at a light and not having to remember to leave it in neutral with the clutch out.

And the Boxster S: The new owner picks it up tonight. First person that looked at it. A no brainer for a car with just 1,350 miles on it. Mixed emotions; but I really never "bonded" to it like the early 911's.
ow it's on to more things MINI.
Charlie
