In my old R50, when I released the parking brake, the clear part of the front turn signals (parking lights, or whatever you want to call them) turned on. I'd like to turn on this feature for my R53 (same with having the doors unlock after the car is turned off). I need to buy a new scanner (Foxwell?) so I'm wondering if there are any models that can allow me to take care of this modification myself. Most of the threads talking about running lights are quite old, so not sure if the newer scanners might have the programming functionality I need.

 

I have the Foxwell NT 510 Elite OBDII scanner. It has all the functions needed for the first Gen models. I don't think it has the ability to fix your particular situation. But may be able to spot what might be wrong (eg: "open circuit"?). However, I've found the Foxwell to be an excellent choice for my needs.

 

One of my R53s is suffering from a few small issues, like the Door Auto-Unlock and the DRLs are no longer working, both are set in the Software to work they just stopped working. Just a heads up. you may be facing the same issue.

 

You're going to need either INPA software or a more expensive scanner, i.e., Autel MaxiCOM to manage those issues. Alternatively, contact member adriancl on this forum. I'm pretty sure Adrian, as an excellent tuner, could remotely change your settings.
