HELP - electrical gremlins!!
First question:
Two weeks ago I had to replace my battery. When it went dead, the alarm kept going on and off. After replacing it, the car has been acting normal, but the fob I was using during the battery death no longer works. I have been using the other fob, works just fine.
Second question:
I just took a call in the office, one of my colleagues was down in the parking garage and called to tell me I left my lights on, which I thought was odd since I didn't turn them on during my daylight commute today. So, an elevator ride later to the car, I see that my break lights are on. I unlock the car using the fob, and they turn off. I opened the door and locked the car again and all seemed normal. Why would the break lights (including the 3rd break light) be on?
Thanks for ANY help!

the fob is probobly a dead batter in it. but the break lights has sorta happend to me once, i was using my turn signal one day and parked with my signal still flashing , well i must have managed to turn it off at the perfect time because the left side of the car still had the lights on and i didnt notice untill like 3 hours later when i was dark outside, i got inside hit the turnsignal with my arm turning it off and the lights went off

The turn signal on/break lights on when engine off is a deliberate design I've been told. It's aparently an european thing, to let cars parked on sidestreets be visible to traffic coming from behind. You turn the signal to one direction and the brake lights in the opposite direction stay on (I think, or could be same direction, I can't remember). Weird, but normal. Were all your brake lights on or just one side?
Dang, this happened to me just yesterday, first time ever. A co-worker came in from the parking lot about 2 hours after I'd arrived, and said my brake lights were on. Sure enough, all 3 were on. Hit the unlock on the fob, and they turn off. I don't think I bumped the turn signal at all before (or after) turning off the car, but it is hard to be completely sure. It is hard to believe MINI "designed in" a feature that could leave you with a dead battery.
