If the system "burps" anything, I can see it and see how much. Under the hottest track days on a 25 minute session, I've never collected little more than a teaspoon in the bottle.
Thank.you for this , don't mind f I use your idea for.my setup as I dont like the fact of having that overlow tube burp coolant onto the exhaust manifold .
May i ask what size tubing u are using ? And I guess it has to be some heat resistance tube ?
I was actually eyeballing that same cap , but was wondering if the 22 lbs was a bit much . Do u have any updrade radiator and does your low speed fan operate ?
what worries me/confuses me with the canton 30 lb cap , if yours is burping with a 22 psi cap i cant imagine how much pressure will accumulate in the system if it needs to burp but must attain 30 lb before the cap allows it to .

I see. So I take this radiator had a built in radiator cap and an overflow tank sytem also running toguether?
Could you please link me to one or do u have the company who made it by any chance , just curious .

@Ngtphantom, as I mentioned, it rarely "burps" with the 18-22 lb. cap. Like others, I didn't want to stress the system using the 30 lb. I just used a length of vinyl tubing from Lowes, nothing high temp. 3/8 in. ID as I recall. Even with their lifetime warranty, after two failures from Mishimoto Aluminum radiators, i gave up and use stock. Come to think of it, I rarely recall coming in after a session and hearing my fan on. I try to bring the oil temp down after a session by driving slowly around in the paddock.

great , thank you for the info , that makes me feel better to know that u are still running stock rad. I was wonderingbif some.of the guys were running higher caps also had some beefier upgrades to the cooling system to help . I am definitely going to aim for at least an 18 lb cap just to raise the boil.point a bit . Have seen these new caps now with the pressure release on them , but I feel that perhaps those are just another failure point , but that may just be my own paranoia

Sorry, no links. Just have recollections from reading other people’s builds from years ago. The NC Trackrat reference above is probably as good as it gets.

Stock cap for a R53 is 16#
I have been running the Stant lever-vent 21-25# cap on a Canton tank for a couple years, and their 18-22# cap for years before that. Both with a stock radiator and Samco silicone hoses. No leaks or burps with either cap, so stock radiators can hold pressure.

I think the 30# Canton suggesttion is extreme. I had switched to the 21-25# cap when attempting to solve an overheating problem. (But that turned-out to be a failing electric water pump that's part of the TVS supercharger kit.) A 20# cap should be plenty if you are running 50/50 antifreeze/water coolant.

FYI: MotoRad now owns Stant, and they offer the same lever-vent design that fits the Canton tank in your choice of release pounds: ST16, ST18, ST20, 22 and 24 with the number being release pounds. Google "ST20 motorad" for example, and Amazon will have a 20PSI model for about $10.

Thanks for the great unfo , based in all the info i have scoured from the forums I am definetely gonna try an 18-22 rad caps. I ordered the motorad mrd506 which is an 18-22 lb cap and see how it goes. I did not go with the vented cap as I was afraid of another point for issues .
Yes i had read online that motorad bought out stant , so it made me worried if the quality when compared to the original stant caps had gone down . Apparently " allstar" is still a different entity , but it seems motorad also makes some caps for them now . Anyhow I also ordered a 16 lb canton cap in case the 18-22 motorad doesnt behave .
For my application I am staying clear of a canton 30 lb cap as I am just not confortable with it , even tough it seems to have worked for some of the other members .
