I put down a deposit in early October for an MCS, when I was told I would get into the December orders by my salesperson, and expected delivery in April. I called my dealer and they told me the order date is moved to MAY (deliver in June at least)!!! The claim is that all dealers are reduced to only 7 orders per month and everybody is pushed back. Of course I don't see a thousand people like me posting hear about this situation, so I'm more than a little scepticle.

Anyway, I have a hard time believing that they HAD 36 slots and 29 (7 a month until 1 in May) had to be pushed back. And that's assuming I was the last order they had for December and I'm the first order in May.

Any thoughts on what I should do? I want to know more before I start saying disparaging things about a particular dealer that may be being honest with me.

Thanks,

Deparately waiting on a CR/W MCS w/ White wheels and 1,2,3!

This is no line. True statement, 7 deliveries per month. Bummer for you now, bonus for you when you get your S. Waiting sucks.

Oh, screw the S, get the MC and load it up. You'll get it quicker, and be just as happy (well, I'm happy at least).

I was told 9 month wait for an S here in Connecticut. That works for me since my car lease is up in August, although it sure takes some commitment to plunk down $1k on a "deal" as MSRP when the car may or may not be in such hot demand 3/4 of a year away!

I'm guessing thet the dealers are stuck with a lot of inventory on their lots - BMW probably wants the on lot inventory GONE. The ordering options are just as much a curse as they are a blessing. I bought the COOPER and don't feel like I got something LESS than an S. I just got something different that is also TERRIFIC. Tha COOPER is more power/fun than most owners have probably had in the past, so why is it so bad? Well, it's not. I'm guessing the 90 percent of Mini Owners would indeed be happy with the Cooper.

Look/Call around. There are many great MINIS sitting on the dealers lots that need a good home.

Hey wactuary - WELCOME to MCO! You've certainly come to the right place for inforation and opinions on anything MINI related!!!

Alas, this sad news about your wait for an MCS seems to be legit.

I would have to join the others here who have already extolled the virtues of a MINI Cooper... I really love it to death! I have to admit that there are days when I wonder if I would be any happier with MCS, but I am so thrilled with the Cooper that I forget those thoughts each time I'm in the cockpit.

Since it appears you registered in October, I'm sure you've seen our #1 poster around (2minis) he actually got the Cooper and then got an MCS - so obviously the Cooper isn't for everyone, but if the wait is going to kill you, then you need to put some serious consideration into the Cooper!

-clink, clink- (my .02 cents hitting the bottom of the jar.)

BTW, if you decide to stick out the wait for either a Cooper or an MCS - hanging around here helps A LOT! We're pretty much all obsessed. It is kind of like a wearing the patch or using nicorette when trying to stop smoking - only better! It isn't quite the real thing, but it really helps with the cravings!

Yeah, and you can get an early start with your obsession by founding the "Can't Wait For June Club". The "Can't Wait" clubs have become a hallowed tradition on MCO. Just check the number of page views each club has.

You'll be OK hangin' out with us. It beats work, family and friends. It just doesn't beat drivin' your MINI. And, IMHO, wait for the S!!!

Boy,

Thanks for the responses. I feel much better, although no less frustrated! I do feel better that it isn't just my dealer throwing me a line. I thought they were being sincere, but it seems so implausible that MINI would cut allocations by that much!

I've considered going for the straight MC, but the MCS was so much fun. I test drove them both, and was quite smitten with the extra oomph. The real plus on the MC is the Silk Green or the Velvet Red. I'm almost pushed to the S for just those colors!

The sales guy was saying they were seing at least a 70-30 demand for the MCS over the MC, but MINI is shifting production more like 30-70 MC?!? I dunno.

I looked at off-the-lot cars, but they didn't really have much, and they weren't what I was looking for. I'll call around to other dealers this week.

Till then, I'm off to start a new thread.

Also curious from the posts above, one guy is given a 9 month wait, Another pushed back a meager 2 months, and I 5 months. Odd how the delivery cuts hit different dealers so differently. Is that because initial alotments differed widely between dealers or just differing demand at the local dealers?

I'll be watching all the posts here. The silver lining is I will be able to see the H/K before plunking down the $$$!

Patiently...
Wactuary
