Getting some codes

03 r53
p2000
P2303
And a p0130, which could possibly be due to my free flowing miltek header?

As for the p2000 and p2303, I have seen people say it could be a bad PCM. Or bad coil(s). How would I go about diagnosing it?

First thing I would do is pull the wires from the coil and clean the contacts on the coil itself.
If that doesn't do anything, try swapping the wire positions to see if the code moves (this will indicate possible bad wire)
if that doesn't change anything, you may be looking at a bad coil.

Hey @BlwnAway just curious -
I read somewhere that one can determine a bad coilpack on a gen 1 by turning it upsidedown. If the color is white - "supposedly" it is an indication of a bad or near dead coilpack.
Have you ever heard of this??
Thanks.

Hmm, new one on me.
But I've never really looked.

Yeah, me too.
I pulled my coilpack this afternoon while I was detailing my engine. I turned it over to see the underside poured resin "ballast"/"insulation" is naturally glossy white.
I now think I remember that the poster showed that the bottom of his (bad) coilpack was caulky and dusty white - resembling the corrosion you would see around battery terminals.
His example definitely was convincing to me that his coilpack was indeed suspect of going bad/dead.

Just thought I'd ask

I don’t see any P030* error codes for misfire? I would think to see some of those too with coil issues.

Makes sense, but it also simply could be reading low coil efficiency, spread through out all cylinders, with no specific cylinder lower than the others or misfiring.

Also check for pinched or damaged wires to the coil plug itself.

I googled the part number stamped on this coil pack. It is an oem coil pack. So I guess it is good, and doesn't need replacing?

There no damaged wires on the coil pack connector.

To me - Your coil pack looks as good as mine. My Mini seems to be running fine with the original factory installed coil pack. I've read that some say: "These things rarely need replacing" (of course this is all hearsay).
Whilst the Bentley manual does not list the P2000 fault; one issue that may encompass the other two faults:
P2303 - Ignition Coil 'B' Primary Control circuit Low (which you've already investigated the coil pack)
P0130 - O2 Sensor Circuit Bank (Pre - CAT O2 sensor)
Another suggestion or my thought might be to - Remove, check and clean (or replace) your MAP sensor next to the airbox (R53).

Late update. If anyone cares.

Since putting a new denso up stream o2 sensor, it still misfires very randomly(but a lot less) at stop lights. I'm thinking it needs a retune since going catless? I don't know. Other than that, car pulls awesome.

I have since put a carbon fiber grills. Next, probably resonator delete from milltek.
