I have the BMW touch-up paint for my MC40 which everyone knows is white and red.
The white touch-up I have is 20 years old now and is more grey than white. Is there a sub for the white other than the BMW version that I can get either from a local parts store or Amazon

 

The BMW/MINI paint code for the white roof, mirrors and wheels is 899.
If you ask around your local auto parts stores they may be able to color match for you.

The number on my old BMW ColorSystem box says 300 alpine white III 51 91 0 419 747.
​​​Interesting, 899 is Aspen White. I wonder if Alpine White was wrong to begin with.
I don't know if the 899 is a cross reference number.

The correct MC40 colors are:
Chili Red, 851
Aspen White, 899

Did you shake your old touch-up paint really well? My dark gray metallic touch-up was almost black until I shook it really well for quite a while. As I recall I was shaking for a minute or 2 before the ball even started moving.

 

I warmed it up first in very warm water and then shook it for quite a bit longer than 5 min. I set the timer for accuracy. I am seeing now that originally the white paint is really a shade off. Alpine White vs Aspen White. The Alpine white shows up slightly grey.
