White touchup paint

Has anyone tried the dealers white touchup paint?
I got a chip in the roof of my MC40 and I tried the dealer supplied Alpine white(wasn't cheap)and noticed that the colour of the paint was more towards grey than white.
So I am thinking of using AudioVisuals #382 but I haven't read anybody's experience in how exact is the match.

huh! My Alpine White from the dealer worked just great! I used the paint and then smoothed it out with the Langka system, and it was a BIG chip. Big stone flew out of a dumptruck. That was two years ago. To this day, I cannot see where I did the touchup...

Does your Alpine white have the number 300 on the package?
You can see my chip because its grey, so I was thinking I might just go over it with some other white paint that is more white in hopes of covering it up. Normally I don't have much problems filling in chips, but this is the first where the paint didn't match exactly.

You two should feel good that you can even get some frickin touch up paint. I have been trying with my local dealership and they keep telling me that it is on backorder because the factory is goin through a re-labling process right now. I think that the excuse kinda sucks. So, smart me, I contact a couple of other dealerships. They tell me that they can get it, but they can't ship it to me as it is considered a hazardous material. Man, I just can't win!

I got touchup paint sent from Classic MINI in Ohio, no problem. Might want to give them a try.
I've used Alpine white on my roof and wheels, and it seems to be a good match to me.

Hi!
I've been touching up some little Nics on my 2006 Mini and I was wondering if you could tell me what the Langka system is, as I have never heard of it? Also, where I might acquire it? As I can definitely tell where I have touched up my Nics on my Mini, and it would be really nice if I couldn't.
Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.
Kindest Regards,
SuzyDs

Have you tried to put in the name, Langka, in google? I just tried and it worked for me.

hmmm...yeah, ditto. And mine is also an '04.

I believe it's www.langka.com It's spendy, but worth it. It allows you to fill a chip, actually overflow a chip, and then the langka product, if the directions are followed carefully using the enclosed card wrapped in a cotton soft thin cloth (like an old t-shirt), will remove just the touch up paint, and not the OE paint. It works great for me!

Does anyone have an actual color code number for the white roof paint? I too have a chip just above the windshield. My Mini dealer, Moritz Mini in Arlington, TX, was baffled when I tried to buy some white factory roof touch-up paint. They ended up selling me some Pepper White, but I'm taking that back without trying it. Pepper White is clearly not the correct color.

Try either of this:

(Much better than OEM touch up paint or even Langka)

http://drcolorchip.com/

http://www.touchup123.com/

Get in contact with your dealer to obtain the correct color code for your white roof.

drcolorchip is on my list, but getting a color code is getting to be a challenge. The dealer doesn't have one, and my query to Mini Customer Service just came back telling me they don't have access to any color codes and to speak with the dealer's manager. Talk about a run-around!

The paint code for the MINI pure white roof is:

"Aspen White Clearcoat" Code #899

Hope this helps!

I need something like this. My MINI has a few rock chips in the hood. Is it really that easy? They are all about the same price; is one better?

For what I have read, the touch up 1-2-3 kits are better than drcolorchip but your experience may vary.

The main aim of these kits is to "cover up" the chips and protect the areas to prevent rust. They won't be perfect repairs but for $40 is not a bad proposition at all.

Thanks for the good info everybody. My dealer's parts man Heath Webb at Moritz Mini did some digging and confirmed the Aspen White Clearcoat #899 as the correct color for the white Mini roof color.
Following is the reply I got from Mini Customer Service requesting the paint code for the white Mini roof.. You might find it...interesting. This was in response to my previous rejection of this position by them and advising Customer Service that the vehicle manufacturer, not the dealer, is the source for all color codes and paint formulas and that they, the manufacturer, is the prime source for this information supplied to the dealers and repair shops.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, we do not have access to paint code information. The dealers are our technical resources and are they only ones that have access to the exact paint code for your vehicle. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

If there are further questions I can assist with, please feel free to drop me an e-mail. I would be happy to lend a hand.

LET'S MOTOR.
