Touch up paint for white S-lites?
Touch up paint for white S-lites?
Has anyone found a good paint match for touching up white S-Lites? I don't have any curb rash but do have some chips in the paint of one wheel I'd like to repair.
Note - a 17mm socket dropped from waist high onto a wheel lying flat on the ground will chip the paint - arrgh!

Wheels same as roof?
Preparing to do a paint job, I found the paint code for the roof white .... I'm guessing this is the same as the color on the wheels?
code: 899 ... MINI ASPEN WHITE
found this via the Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes site and searching MINI misc (versus interior and exterior colors)
With this code you can go online and order touchup quantity or spray cans from multiple suppliers. I have never seen the roof paints or wheel paints listed in the routine touchup color lists for the standard suppliers.....or MINI's own parts list. But perhaps I just haven't looked in the right place yet....
(I'm repainting the scoop to match the roof)

Alpine...Aspen.. whatever.
I have a bottle. You just ask your parts guy for it, they should have it. I wouldn't use that to repaint the scoop though...then you would want to get real spray canes of primer, base coat, and clearcoat. PaintScratch will custom make touch up pens to paint cans to anything in between that you need in any color. Not sure if that 899 white is common enough to find in an auto parts store.

that's why I needed the code, so I could get my local Sher' Williams auto paint supplier to mix the right stuff for base/clear
then Mr HVLP (in this case just a detail gun) comes out of his case and away we go ....
but for OP - that code and this vendor http://www.automotivetouchup.com/ (or others) can fix you up. You can go to the dealer too - these other vendors offer options to the bottle of goo tho as well as spray cans should you need a bit more quanity w/out going to a full spray gun.
OP - if you do use the factory goo bottle you may want to check out LANGKA http://www.langka.com/

I've used the Aspen White on the white S-lites (previous owner and/or dealership parked by braille
:impatient). It's not perfect, but close enough at a distance.
Jwardell - I did the same Alpine/Aspen mis-statement - BMW is VERY serious about their whites!
