Evap Code - replaced gas cap - how to clear Service Engine Light

Good Morning, ALL! Am hoping you can help! Everyone here has been so very kind for previous issues with my "Baby" - R53, 2006 British Racing Green Mini S, only 69,000 miles! She threw a Service Engine Soon Light. Code P0456 - evap leak. I replaced the gas cap as rubber gasket around gas cap was dry rotted. I'm trying to clear the Service Engine Soon Light and perhaps not doing it correctly - can't get it to go off Or will it automatically go off after a few cycles (miles???) Many Thanks, Abbey's Mom

Easiest way is to fill up, and then clear with a scanner or inpa, amd if it recurs once you are at 7/8ths to 3/4 tank you have a problem still.

at a full tank it doesn’t run the check
