I was curious on this one since I have not seen this code before in posts...
I did a search and found this link to a nice document (ok it is for a truck - but it covers the basics pretty well)..
One solution for this code.. check the gas cap.. see page 3..
if that is the case. I think the MINI will turn off the error light after so many "good" engine starts... Or you can use a scan tool to clear the code and see if it returns (indicating that it might not be the gas cap.. )
I guess question back to you.. what was the MINI being fixed for?? .. That might shed some light on why the Check Engine Light tripped on..
Good luck

I had the "Service engine Soon" light come on recently for no reason I could figure out. Took the car to the dealer and they put the gas cap back on correctectly: boy was I embarrassed! Has something to do with proper fuel tank venting. The dealer tells me that once the gas cap is restored to its proper fit the light will go out by its self in approximately 40 drive cycles.
Although it was embarrassing, I'm glad I took the car to the dealer. They reset the light all fixed. I hope this helps and you get your problem solved.
Cheers

they wouldnt reset his either... They checked it and the guy said "We arent allowed to reset these newer french cars they might lock the system from a foreign signal trying to mess with the computer." My brother then mad as hell said "its British not french you idiot."

I have done the gas cap thing, and a totally different light came on. The other light was on the Speedometer, and actually says 'check fuel cap'. I did, and restarted the car-it went out. (That was a couple months ago).
Now...my check engine light just camr on today ('02 MSC w/ 41,000+ miles). I am really far from the dealer, so you think Autozone will check it for me? My husband has about 8,000.00 worth of scan equipment from Snap-On, and nothing to read my car! The car seems to run out normally, hope its nothing serious!

Hey thanks, I will do that. I hate when warning lights of anykind are on. Its bad enough I drive around with the airbag light on, 'cause I cant get down to the dealer for a couple more weeks for them to re-wire it. Appreciate the input!
AutoZone told me flat out they aren't allowed by the BAR to check the codes at all in California, can't even plug in the code reader for you. Garages have been raising hell about them stealing business. Typical.
To be honest, I'd rather check it out myself. The idiots I've met at the AutoZone around here don't fill me with enough confidence to correctly identify my car if they were looking right at it from two feet away.
