S.o.s. My S.e.s. Light Is On
S.O.S. My S.E.S. Light Is On
Car only has 2200 miles on it and during a recent drive the Service Engine Soon light illuminated. I've searched the threads concerning this issue and am familiar with most of the likely causes (wiring harness,02 sensor, gas cap...) I was wondering if anyone else here who owns an '06 MCS has experienced this and if so what it was. I will be taking it in for diagnostic this week.

CEL could be on for a lot of different reasons...
Get the codes out and you'll know why yours came on.
I also suggest you to get an ODB2 scanner tool... It's a very useful device and worths it!

I bet it is an 02 Sensor. I have had 4 replaced already in my August '05 MINI with 14,000 miles. The first was replaced at about 2000 miles.

My SES light came on about a month ago. I took it to the dealer b/c I needed to have my NYS inspection done also. Anyway, the MA said that it was a misfire code and, because it had only happened once, that it would have eventually cleared itself.
Then on Sunday it came on again. The car was driving fine, so I figured I'd give it a couple of days. When I started the car after work on Monday the SES light was not on. So, I figure it was another single misfire incident. Like many of you, though, I'd feel much more comfortable if I actually knew for sure what code it was.

Eric pulled the code and found it was the knock sensor. He cleared it for me and we're going to see if it comes on again. If so he'll replace it as it is most likely a faulty part. I'll keep you posted. BTW, I put on the M7 strut reinforcement plates for some added protection from the mushroom plague.
