Hey folks...
I've got 2 wiring projects to get done this winter. I'm going to start by admitting that I hate electrical work, of any type. I had to put a new light fixture in the bathroom at my house this weekend and I'm still mad about it.
First, I've built a trailer and need to wire up the lights. Then second, because I've removed the OEM reverse light for the hitch, I need to re-wire the reverse lights and do the retrofit to the R50 (?) taillights with reverse in the unit.
Now what makes my brain hurt (besides trying to read the wiring diagrams) is really understanding what I need to do and in what sequence.
Well it finally stopped raining and so I started to tackle these projects. I started with trailer wiring kit from Outmotoring. I followed the instructions to the letter, even had my wife double check the wires so my colorblind *** didn't screw that up.
Aside from the spaghetti wiring, everything went fine. But once done, I had no lights on the trailer. Lights on the car are good, so at least I didn't break that.
I guess the first step of trouble shooting is figuring out if the problem is with the harness or trailer. Any thoughts on solving the issue?
First step would be to check the harness on the car to see if you have a signal at the four pin connector that goes to the trailer. I believe the exposed pin is ground, the one next to it is taillights, and the other two are left and right signal/brake.
