So this is Christmas...

Well, I was hoping Santa or rather USPS, would've showed up with the items I asked for on my list.
They never came.
Although, a little disappointed - I'm not Scroogin' out at the moment. I am sympathetic to the tremendous amount of demands put upon our beloved couriers this time of year.
But rarely do I get 4days off from the drudgery of my 7-4 job, looking forward to having the time to crawl under the hood and install some new goodies in my Mini.

Oh well. There's always next year

Happy Holidays and a merry New Year to all my 1st Gen friends! 🎄

You're not alone, not that it helps. Week ago paid for overnight shipping from one of our vendors and got three days. Paid for two days on another item and got it in four.

No refund for the difference of course.

>INB4 was it ECS

No, actually two different vendors (and not them) but same shipping company which starts rather appropriately with a giant "F"

Tough time of year, and with the super cold weather in the midwest over the past two weeks (our UPS was literally shut down for the past week because of dangerous working conditions and daytime temps in the -20F range with winds on top; and to stupid inflation and wages not keeping up with the cost of living thanks to trickle-down experimentation and corporate greed, lots of packages still undelivered. Due to a strike in the UK, the express shipping on my Budweg Brembos from the UK took 3 weeks. $125 in shipping for three weeks. I can't blame folks for using the holidays as a means of illustrating their difficulty, though. And I wasn't in a rush to install them, either. My hat goes off to all of the delivery folks who were working yesterday to try and cut down on that backlog. They should have been home with their families.

Takin' It Back

While my sentiments were the utmost sincere at the time of my previous post -
I am now totally Grichin'-out to the max

An hour after my initial post, I received a notification from the supplier and USPS tracking; alerting me that my packages were delivered Saturday 12.24.2022 @ 6:48pm in the postal locker of my apt complex.
I was just as excited as Ralphie was on Christmas morning and rushed to the mailbox to retrieve my goods...
Only to discover no key to the parcel locker was to be found in my mailbox. Further crushing my x-mas spirit; all of the parcel lockers were wide open and empty with their irremovable security keys still in the locks.

What a kick in the jingle bells that was.

This is the 4th time USPS has done this to me since I've moved here. It is impossible to submit a "undelivered mail" ticket on their website - as their poorly configured API crashes every time.
I'll either have to wait until the spirit of the holidays subside....Or most likely have to drive to PO and have them look for it....AGAIN.

Merry Christmas.

Oh man, sorry to hear that. I had a couple of bad experiences with parcel lockers too. They make it tough, for sure. Hope you get this sorted out.

Merry Christmas.

A Christmas Story....

How USPS stole my Christmas

Well it has been over a month (37days) now and my packages: 2) Poweflex front CAB and swaybar bushings($120), A quart kit of Epoxy resin, lay up tools and materials ($150) are still MIA thanks to the ever incompetent (non)actions of our *beloved* USPS...I had come to find out that the USPS carrier that "supposedly" delivered my package (December 24th 2022) was a stand-in for my regular postal carrier. I've tried in vain to reach USPS to find a resolution. They are clueless and have not gotten back to me in 4 weeks.

Rewind: A few weeks ago (late December 2022) I just happened to catch up with the stand -in postal carrier sorting mail at our mailboxes and politely asked her if she remembered or what she might have done with my expected delivery. She was soooo stoned she couldn't remember let alone form a coherent sentence. I knew then I'll never find out or ever see those purchases again.

I've been trying to work with the eBay sellers, eBay CS, USPS and PayPal for an explanation or to recoup my losses. Non have helped. Tracking shows they were delivered. No insurance was provided. I'm out $270.

I have had great results with eBay in the past. However, I am forever done with eBay who's sellers ship USPS.

Ahh yes, apartment / condo life. I went through this for a time. Would get with your landlord and request a mailbox lock change, or just do it yourself and send him/her the second key (possibly when you move out). Someone else might have a copy, but if the postal carrier him/her/itself just has sticky, forgetful fingers you're still vulnerable to future thievery.

Would consider having these occasional valuables delivered to your work place, a friend's house, or possibly just rent a postal mail box either at the P.O., UPS Store or similar type place. Amazon already has drop boxes / delivery centers all over the place for the things you get from them.

Also you already know this but Xmas is prime porch pirate season...

Looking at their handy-dandy USPS Claims FAQ page on "Filing a Claim - the Basics" there appears to be nothing of use there. Almost as if they really don't care about your loss, talk to the hand, move along people, NEXT...

Your tax dollars hard at work.

UPDATE: the USPS Office of the Inspector General's site might of some use. "Notify the Office of the Inspector General only if you believe a USPS employee or contractor is tampering with or stealing your mail:"

Well, I can say for sure that my mailbox is secure (no tampering). So I don't suspect "mail theft" (i.e.: with intent).
I truly suspect there is a higher probability that the young stand-in mail carrier may have inadvertently put the parcel locker key in one of my neighbor's mailbox instead of mine. The residents here; are not likely to do the right thing.
There is not another Mini Cooper owner in my complex...Or within at least 3mi of me for that matter. Even if the aforementioned was the case - they wouldn't have a clue as to what they had or what to do with the parts. All that would matter to them is that it was free.

I used to live 3/4mi from my current employer in a pretty affluent part of the city. I can tell you now that the post office that handles the mail in that zip code is even worse. I know this from living in that area for 5 years. It was frustratingly awful for me. Even more aggravating for my current employer who relies on dependable and timely delivery.

Having already spoken to a USPS representative over the phone and filed a report/claim; I received the same sentiment as in your first comment: "Oh that's too bad - "Next"..."
I would expect the same yawn and eyeroll response from an Inspector General representative if I reported that one of their employees were stoned on the job and lost my mail: "yeah, and....?"

Although I wasn't particularly looking forward to dropping my subframe to do a complete overhaul; it remains a mystery, even to me, why I didn't order those Powerflex bushings directly from their website like I had done in the past (Rear trailing arm inserts, rear top shock bushings and lower engine mount bushings). Shipping cost wasn't too bad and arrived UPS on my doorstep in 2-3 days.

I just went through a nightmare with my clutch too my USPS delivery person likes to just deliver packages to whoever she wants to just to say they're delivered well after a week a neighbor had finally brought me my clutch kit thank God and eBay was refusing to refund me my money and the seller was being cool with me but he wasn't gonna send me a new one either.
Last year actually I had UPS also deliver 4 rims and 4 tires to the wrong apartment and I tracked him down and ask them where he put my items because they're not at my door and they said they were delivered and he goes old this apartment I delivered him over here and that apartment number wasn't even Anything remotely close to mine. like it's that hard To read the building number look for that building number and then look for the apartment number within that building they just can't figure that out. It also doesn't help that GPS 95 percent of the time will take people to the wrong apartment too when it's used...
I hope you end up getting your stuff or someone does the right thing and brings it back to you I actually just had an air fryer delivered to me and I opened it up thinking it was something for the wife and then seeing it was an air fryer and messenger b******* at it saying why did you spend $400 on an air fryer and then I looked at the name on the Box and it was the neighbor down the ways so I put it back in there and delivered it to her and apologized that I'd opened it.
btw, looks like we're in the sane territory. My subframe too will be coming down in the next day or so.

Not to belabor the rant or this thread.
However, Adam your experiences are similar to mine.

I will never forget when I moved here (riches to rags story), my "neighbors" in the apt complex wouldn't even have the courtesy to say hello. That's ok. People keep to themselves - I good with that.
On one occasion, I nearly lost my mind waiting a couple of days after USPS notifies me that my package (coolant tank), had been delivered. It had not. I could not get a hold of anyone from USPS to respond to my calls or emails.
One day, while changing my clothes after coming home from work, there was a knock on my door. I didn't get there in time to answer the door but from the window I noticed a middle aged woman with a child walking just past my apartment.
When I opened the door - low and behold there was my package at the doorstep! I put on my shoes to run out to thank the woman but she was already driving off out of the complex....in a Subaru. Definitely NOT from my "neighborhood".

Ordered a Haltech Elite 2500 ECU on 11/25/22.
Shipped on 12/15/22 from the UK.
Arrived in NYC on 12/21/22.
Moved to LAX Customs on 12/30/22.
Been there since. Called USPS to find out what's going on last week. Still no word or movement.

In the mean time, I ordered a gearset from Momentum UK on 12/2/22.
Had it in my hands on 12/9/22.

So, I understand your frustration. Especially considering I'm waiting on a $2100 piece of equipment.
