A member? Silk green MINI with white top...driving 80-85 in a 65 zone in traffic...tailgating...numerous improper lane changes without signaling...Saturday 12/7 HWY 41 in Appleton Wisconsin. You endeared yourself and your MINI to all on the road.

I hate lane changers. I had a guy doing that to me for about 10 miles yesterday on the way to the mall. I stayed in the middle lane the whole time, and I still beat him He had this big clunky plow on his pickup, so I didn't get toooo close.

Yes officer. I'm sorry officer. No I won't do it again officer.

C'Mon, mind your own driving and if someone is driving like crap make sure you stay away from them. Doesn't matter what car.

Has it ever occurred to you or have you noticed that you are always in trafiic when Motoring ? Everyone wants to "get a closer look" so they bunch up around my little car and drive well below the normal speed of traffic and slow me down in the process and cause cars around to brake erratically..... That's when I drop the hammer and leave 'em in the dust to get into clearer road where a bunch of rubber neckers aren't 3ft away from me and staring at my car not the road.

Buy a saturn if you're not interested in using the power in the Cooper
and MIND YOUR OWN DRIVING.

Unless your wife is pregnant, and the contractions are 10 minutes apart or less, SLOW DOWN!!!!!

A Mini is one of the last cars that should be driven by an idiot. On the other hand, at least he or she will be less likely to take someone with them when they crash.

Yeah! especially those of us with Silk Green/White Coopers! raising the need for me to defend myself.. I live in NY/CT area, so that wasnt me! Traffic around here seems to travel at 80mph, in 55 and 50 mph zones!

Not to ruffle any ones feathers but sometimes it's hard to stay away from them as they plow into you at 80 mph.

how about just drive responsibly.

Ever thought about staying out of the left lane unless you're traveling faster than other traffic or passing someone ?

I fully understand the dangers associated with driving. I wish if the driving tests in the USA were as thorough as the driving tests in the UK. I have both a UK and Florida driver license and it's amazing that people in the US are given licenses without demonstrating to an examiner that they can properly control a car and give respect to other drivers that share the road. I could have passed the Florida driving test half asleep with one eye. It's a joke.

If you see a car approaching rapidly from behind with their left blinker on or a quick flash of the high beams during the day (never at night that's dangerous)... MOVE OUT OF THE WAY. That means I am going faster than you and would like to pass you without having to slow down to your merry 55 mph and wait until you've decided you'll let me around. Don't camp out in the passing lane. Hence the word "PASSING". Maybe the european roads have a higher speed limits than US roads because people over there CAN DRIVE ? (What a novel thought)

I hate people on the road that refuse to use their mirrors and hog the left hand lane at 55 mph. Then when they finally move out of the way they are all pissed off. Get a grip... ever read, "Slower Traffic Keep Right" ?

I don't express a strong opinion on most things, I think to each his own, but when it comes to incompetent drivers I have no pity at all and I think they should be banned from driving.

Kesh

Amen Brother, Amen. The Italians do this properly. The left lane is pretty much ALWAYS free and clear. They pull out to pass, complete the manuever, and pull back into right hand lane(s).

Should be a law in the US, (no parking in the passing lane) and actually is in some states. Just wish it was enforced...

If you have a cell phone and see a dangerous road-rage driver, you can do what I do: just call 911 and ask for the state highway patrol. I believe it is even a free call with most or all wireless plans.

If you are on an interstate or similar highway, there is a pretty good chance that you will soon be able to slow down and savor the look on the face of the raging idiot as he gives some lame excuse to the nice lady officer.

I did this to an idiot in a bright red Firebird about a month ago, and the completely crushed look on the driver's face was truly priceless! He looked as if he was about to cry with the realization that he might have just used up all of his points against his license.

If you are willing to risk my life in order to be 1/4 second ahead of me in heavy traffic then I have no problem at all being a big fat rat and squealing on you.

Anybody care to pass me on the right and then cut me off when I too want to go faster but am stuck behind some big Winnebago in the left lane?

When My Sharona was less than 1 day old (two weeks ago!) I took her on a 250 mile road trip (Toronto to London, Ontario, return). On the way back (at night) some A*hole in an SUV decided he wanted to play "follow-the-leader-too-close".

This jerk tailgated me for about 75 miles - changed lanes when I did, passed trucks and others when I did, etc.

It was so ridiculous. Even though I was breaking in my MCS, and constantly changing hiway speeds, this idiot kept it up.

At one point in the distance I saw a cop on the side of the road. I knew he was there because his rooftop light was flashing, having pulled somebody over. I was close to pullling in behind the cop, losing the jerk in the process. For whatever reason, I decided not to do that.

Ultimately, with some very intelligent driving, and strategy, I managed to work my way around a big hiway rig, and ended up BEHIND the nut case. HA!

However, he changed lanes, really slowed down and then we were back at it.

Shortly afterwards we must have come to his exit, because he flashed his lights at me and turned off the highway.

Friggin' nuts!

We are talking about (what I call) Active and Passive Passing.

Active passing : You get in the LEFT lane to do a job. That is pass someone in a lane to the right. Pass quickly and efficiently, and return to the proper DRIVING lane - as it is titled.

Passive passing : Technically could be considered "passing", but the procedure usually takes 20 minutes over a 15 mile stretch of highway. (Example: the guy in the right hand lane is going 65 MPH, and the car passing is doing a blistering 65.02 MPH). I'm usually stuck behind said guy in the left lane. Now - do we not understand that if you are practically MATCHING the speed of the person you are "passing", you could probably be behind him.. and it really WOULD NOT MATTER. These people are the same types that exhibit another highway anomaly, "Leap Froggers", but that is another rant on another post.

I have observed a number of MINI drivers on the highway - and as a group, we ARE good drivers. I find myself guilty when I see another MINI on the highway. I find myself trying to catch him/her. Once I have caught up, sanity takes over, and I wonder "why did I just do that ?" I wave and a smile are what I deliver. Odd personal behavioral quirks have surfaced since I have purchased this vehicle.

The fact is - the car IS fun to wind out every now and again. In time, this will wear off, as we settle down into the common traffic flow. In the meantime - MOTOR ON !

Good idea, if you have a hands-off cell phone! That would be rewarding. I have called the California on-road polluter phone number a couple times on some nasty emitters.

When I see a wingnut in my rearview traveling too fast and/or a changing lanes, I stay put, no matter what lane I'm in. I think the jerk or jerkette is a wildcard so I am going to make their job easier by not moving around. BTW, I'm not the one going 55 in the LH lane.

Thank you, one of my biggest soap boxes EVER! People do not have to demonstrate that they are capable of operating a motor vehicle in the country before they are given a license and we ALL pay for it in our insurance bill.
When I got my California driver's license (more than 15 years ago), the young lady taking the test next to me was getting all the answers from her father. They graded my test a perfect score, when in fact, I had incorrectly answered two of the questions. The driving portion of the test consisted of me getting into my mom's station wagon with an automatic transmission and driving around the block. I had to demonstrate that I knew where the turn signals were, as well as the brakes and throttle. Nothing else.
